The best World War 2 game (all PC) that I've played are:
- Call of Duty 1 & 2
- Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30
- Company of Heroes
- Medal of Honour: Allied Assault

Brothers in Arms would have to be the one. The storyline was so immersive to the point that I was grief stricken along with the main chracter when squad members died. I got mad when he did, and happy when he did.

The fighting was amazing as well. Running across a street firing blindly with no reticle, then moving slowly up the side behind some houses and finishing with brutal fire from my tommy gun ending it all. Ahhhhhhhhhh.

Multplayer was exceptional as well. Allowing splitscreen with two players and two squads was an excellent addition. And the fact that all the maps are tactical as well as requiring incredible strategy to excel at them was a nice touch.

Are you playing the XBox version of the game? Because the version I played was the PC version and they included a reticle as well, though it is slightly pointless as your accuracy is much better when firing in the iron sight mode.

Well, about the main character himself, Sgt. Matt Baker, I agree with you that what he said before the start of every mission portrays his feelings about the war was well done and it suits the theme of the game, that is to show the other face of war, the human side of it. At times, I felt sorry for this guy and what he had to endure when going into battle. I wished that he could have at least talk during a cutscene or something (aside from giving orders). Gives a feeling that he is part of the game rather than just sitting there staring at the others while they talk, in my opinion.

The same can't be said about the team members as they lack any personality. When they died, I don't have any feelings for them at all. They are more like providing firepower and the death of any man will reduce the effectiveness of the team. That is the main reason why I always strive to keep them alive the best I could. I really wished that Gearbox could have at least gave each of the team members some personality so that at least you are fighting alongside real people rather than robots.

The new Call of Duty is the best I've played :) , When I get the chance to take turns on it, what with all the twenty-somethings that are now at my house, of course all wanting their turn at it.

One of the close combat series, probably nr 3 or 5. The "Day of defeat" mod to half life, and Hearts of Iron are also high on the list.

Going back in time quite a bit I also enyojed V for Victory.

I remember that the Commandos series are also good World War 2 games (never played the games in the series before but I've heard a lot of good things about them, except Commandos: Strike Force). It's an RTS where you are in command of four men (can't remember their names).

For multiplayer for me it'd be European Air War, my mates and I spent hours dogfighting in that game and the amount of planes in one spot could be awesome. Sometime pure chaos :D

And for a Singleplayer experience for me it'd be Silent Hunter 3 (also looking forward to SH4 coming in March, it's set in the pacific), nothing like hunting down and taking out merchants and being bombarded and escaping from the escorts, especially when played with a degree of realism.

As for FPS's, well I've played COD2, BOB & MOH-PA and as long as I can get to use a Bren Gun I'm happy :mischief:

There is a Band of Brothers game? I thought they're a TV mini-series? I never knew there was a game version as well.

When it comes to RTS i have to go with Company of Heroes, although it doesn't have the same replayability as Sudden Strike, but that's just my opinion.

And when we shift to FPS, i'd go with Call of Duty.
