Is it just me or does the computer controlled casters not have to follow the hardcore rules that aoe spells should damage partymembers?
First of all I think im proud or something over playing by hardcore rules (like it proves anything...) instead of normal. But seeing as how I have a wizard as my main character it is quite frustrating, damaging ure whole team with fireballs or just completely messing things up with a misplaced confusionspell. But I suppose I could live with that.
But then when I tried controlling khelgar instead of my main wizard, my wizard turns out to be much better at aiming all kinds of spells!(making me feel like a noob) Or perhaps its just that the computercontrolled character does not have to adhere to the same rules as the player?
This all leads me to think that I should either: a) Start a new character who is a fighter. b) Keep playing khelgar as my wizard dishes out dmg. c) Set difficulty to normal and nuke away.
Nope, I wandered into Sand's cone of cold with my sorcerer once. It was... quite a chilling experience.
Playing a wizard can be quite frustrating, since the ai seems to have the good habit of rushing into the fray in the exact moment you wish to clean the field with a meteor swarm.
You should try to make khelgar a monk (imp. evasion), or dress them to have nice reflex saves. Also neeshka can make quite a meleer with heavy armor feat, and you should not worry about fireballing her.
First a question, have you updated your game?
It was the same for me at first, i had a sorceress with me and she throw fireballs at everything and only the enemies were hurt. After i had updated the game she incinerated my whole party a few times before i tired and swapped her out.
That might be an answer to your problem, a bug in the original game which is solved by updating it.
Umm. If you play by hardcore rules, it's realistic. Meaning, if you drop a fireball in the middle of a group of enemies and your allies, they all take damage. That's how it's supposed to work. They have a big curser showing where the spell will take place when you cast an area effect spell as well, so you can plan where it will strike. The only real problem is where your computer controlled NPC's happen to run around to and if they jump into the middle of where you throw your spell as you are casting it.
The computer controlled caster is probably just casting the spells in a manner that does not include allies in the area of effect. That is just my guess.
"You can do whatever you want to me." "Oh, so I can crate you and hide you in the warehouse at the end of Raiders?" "So funny, kiss me funny boy!" / *Sprays mace* " I know, I know, bad for the ozone"
Nope, the computer controlled caster don't mind the least if she blasts the whole party to hell together with the bad guys, not eaven if one sets casting to the restricted level. At least thats my experience.
Perhaps 'teamkilling' is not something the AI can handle. The A isn't excatly I in NWN2.
