Nether magic help

I level 17 and my nether magic is level 8 but whenever I try to cast summon death lord/fiend/ or guardian nothing happens. I mean I hear the spell being cast but no creature. summon rats wolves and undead work though. By the way my class is fighter. Wol\uld that effect it?

I've never used nether magic, but from what I understand, your skill level needs to be higher than the spell level for the spell to work well. That would explain why "summon deathlord" doesn't work, but I have no idea about the other two.

Level 8 Nether Magic isn't high enough for Fiend and Death Lord as SWCarter pointed out, but summon Guardian (level 6) should work, it does for me, I'm using v1.4.
