NPCs Summoning Bug

I had the Druid in my party, used her summon ability (got a Badger), swapped her for a Paladin and went on Khelgars quest into the hills. The badger was still with me when I spawned at the new location.
I couldn't go in anywhere as I got the BG style "you must gather your party" because the badger wouldn't move.
I solved it by quicksaving and on reload the badger was gone!.
