what about those mithril rings?

I don't know if that's the vanilla game or if it comes with Tutu, but over the course of the game, I found 4 or 5 mithril rings. In the description it says they might be worthwhile and I might want to hold on to them, but so far I haven't found any use for them.
Are they worthless (other than gold), or am I missing something here?
