trying something new

I was debating running a consecutive game to my evil wizard, was thinking of either monk, barbarian, or ranger. Which of these 3 is a nice choice knowing the content of the game, and what can I do for multi/prestige choices?
Also, are the ECL races worth it if you go for a full party or just for solo? I was wondering about Deep Gnomes and Drow but the level adjustment is pretty fierce on them. Thanks for any help.

If your new character is going to be good, then either the barbarian or the ranger would be fine. You'll find a monk who will group with you, but there are relatively few other straight tanks, and the one ranger you can pick up is evil.
I don't think your exp gain changes between solo and a full group. If you take an advanced race you probably won't make level 20. Playing a regular race, I just barely made it past 20 in my first game.

Thanks. I think I will opt for Barbarian since bows and ranged warfare kind of irritates me and it doesn't work so well close up. I could be off base in thinking that though.
Now I just need to perfect a barbarian build. Thanks again.

I tried a Drow Wizard class, because I really liked the idea of playing a chaotic neutral Drow. And she was great to play. But everyone else was leveliing SO fast in comparison to her, that, regretfully, I gave up on that game.
I will go back to a Drow, later, despite the slow level gain, but not until I have played through the game at least once.
