Issues with leaving the Mountain Pass with Casavair (SPOILERS)

I finally decided to stick with a character and just attempt to finish the game before deciding to run through various characters. Highlight to read due to possible spoilers:

I just tore through the Bonegnasher clan, killing everyone inside. I saved the miners, and I bluffed my way through the "emissary" and tore the imposter apart too. I got outside, took down a group of orcs. This led to a cutscene of Khelgar mocking the orcs, some mercenaries coming as more orcs showed up. I dealt with them, had a talk with the merc leader, Casavair. I went through every conversation option I could find. I failed an influence check trying to find out what went bad between him and Neverwinter. However, I CANNOT leave the area. He does not follow me, I cannot use the world map exits, and the pass going the other way on the map is blocked mysteriously.
I haven't gone through this area before at all. I did a search, and it seems as though I am having a problem similar to what was mentioned in a previous thread, but it seems as though my problem is a bit different. I completed the quest to deal with the Bonegnasher clan. I just cannot get out of the mountain pass whatsoever. Any thoughts as to why or how to go around this?

It sounds like a script didn't trigger correctly. My guess is if you go back to an earlier save and play through the sequence with Casavir again, it will work correctly the second time.

Cassavir is supposed to join your party at this point. Without him in the party, perhaps you can't leave the zone.

Blah, I don't want that stuffy man in my party anyhow.

Of course he is the only one that knows the location of the lair.

Casavir is a lot different from most Paladins I've seen. Highlight for Spoiler:

No second Aribeth, for which I am INFINITELY grateful. No preaching. Period. Sure, do evil stuff and you lose influence points, but he will not preach, and he can deal a LOT of damage in melee.
