Question re romances

Post by Shine »

Hi,
I started poking around some articles and posts regarding BG2.
The concept of these "romances" seems rather intriguing and, from the looks of it, rather well developed (as opposed to the odd comments made by NPC's in BG1).

However, looking through some of the character profiles, it seems that these romances involve female NPC's starting a fling with the PC.
And it seems that the game assumes the PC's to be male. Where does that leave us female gamers?
I know this is a great big fantasy but I do draw the line somewhere. So, does this mean that those of us disinterested in a romance with a female NPC miss out on the part of the game that deals with these things?

You are correct that a male NPC has the possibility of 4 romances depending upon the NPC's race.

A female NPC can have a romance with Anomen. You can also download mods that add Kelsey and Solaufein that will also romance a female NPC.

All in all the romances add another facet to the game but overall were poorly implemented, IMHO.
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a person does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses their intelligence.

Three for a male PC: Jaheira, Viconia, and Aerie.

There are other romances for female players, too, some with males, some with females. I suggest checking through our sticky file of mods, and checking out such possibilities as Fade, Tashia, Tsujatha, and Nathaniel, or looking here.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Who is the fourth?

*edit* OK Fable beat me to it... however I probably should mention that Nathaniel is a romance for male PC's only.

Nalia but I forgot that was through a mod as well. My bad.

That was just to provide a sample. There's also Chloe, a female NPC who is only romanceable by female NPCs. (If your NPC is male, she'll mack on Imoen. ;) )

Not to worry, I do it too.

The other day I was starting the hunt for Valygar quest, and toddled off to the Copper Coronet to speak to Suna Sei forgetting her involvement with Valygar was part of Unfinished Business.

Aah ... my mistake because the original post was asking about romances for female PC's I read it in that context.

Yes I've come across Chloe ... our time together was very brief and has not been repeated.

Although a lesbian Imoen might be preferable to the original - does the Chloe mod change her much?

I couldn't tell you. I find the so-romance aspect of any game silly, so I pretty much ignore the "opportunities." As for your question: did you search the database on Chloe? Because I'm sure the question has arisen, before.
