Spell trading

Greetings folks~
If you have two magicians in your party, why can't they copy spells from each others spellbooks? (Or am I not observant enough, and this is possible?)

I think it's about spellbooks being very personal or something. And spells are supposed to be very hard to get so they guard their precious treasure with their lives. (giving eachother spells would be like giving away power in a way)

That's why only two mages who know and trust one another (together in a party for a long time) would discuss such things... but if they can make fairly equal trades, and increase the spell vocabulary of both... They'd go for it!
