5 statues problems (Spoiler!)

I am working at the ruins.
I already have 3 statues: from the beginning, the gem mines and the keep.
The song portal does not seem to work for me. (yet?)
But more importantly I have no clue how the temple of four seasons works.
I enter, read the inscriptions, walk to the room of winter, but when I click the book, nothing happens.
(the only thing that happens is that the games slows a lot).
is it a bug? or am I doing something wrong?
help please!

It's been a while since I've been there, but reading them book should make some monsters pop and attack you. Killing them allows you to continue on into the next room. I believe there is a statue or something in the beginning that you can examine an inscription.
Consequently, you can also pick the locks into the next room if your pick lock skill is high enough.

The book should give a dialog that asks if you want to take the trial.
When you do you get a bunch of monsters attacking you.
You can't enter the song portal until you have done the four statues.

You have to choose the option that says [Turn the page]. If you still get no monsters, you are bugged.

Got it now.
this winter-room was making the game so sluggish.
Eventualy it worked.

5 statues issue
so, I'm at the ruins and have 3 of the 5 rites of purificationm one from each of the gem mine, the keep and the hall of seasons, now the fourth I suspect is the one right at the begining, but when I click on it I get the error message *item cannot be used during combat* hopefully I can get some help with this, any ideas?

Some script failed and the game thinks you are still in combat - unless you really are. Did you kill all the stuff in the area? Just because they are fighting each other doesn't mean one doesn't have aggro on you. Clear the area. If that doesn't fix it, you might be bugged ... but if you can't get out of combat mode, you can't rest or travel either.
