Sometimes Jan steals Boo as a practical joke but if jan doesn't have Boo I reccomend shadowkeeper and just pop him minsc's inventory but also in underdark there is some kinda monster that can eat familier's and if you were in underdark recently they probably ate poor little Boo *snicker*

Yeah, no kidding. The "some kinda monster" is a nishruu/hakeashar, and it ate my pseudodragon! Damn drow!

The monster is summoned via a mage spell (so in theory you could run into them almost anywhere) but several drow parties summon them. The only other place I remember running into them is the "gaurded compound" in the temple district, but I'm sure there are some more.

They are supposed to drain items that have charges and destroy them when all charges are gone. Unfortunately due to a bug in the release version, they seem to "eat" just about anything. This was fixed in the patch, which you can download here: ftp://ftp.interplay.com/pub/patches/bg2intlpatch.exe
