I just recieved this game from a friend. Looks like a fun game. It includes the expansion, the Frozen Throne. Is there any patchs , mods or downloads that would improve my game? What can I expect from this game?

Should I install the Froze Throne as soon as I install the Riegn of Chaos?
Thanks

Yes, there are patches for both Reign of Chaos and the Frozen Throne that improve the overall playing experience. As for mods, the only mod I know of is DoTA. Highly addictive from what I've heard from friends who play Warcraft III. There could be other mods, though I'm not familiar with them as I very seldom deal with mods.

It's best to install the patches for Reign of Chaos first before installing it's expansion pack, the Frozen Throne.

So I plan on installing the gme then patch, then the expansion pack, then patch again.
What does the expansion do and Can I play it right off the start? It has other races for game play, right?

Well, the expansion, the Frozen Throne expands upon the events after Reign of Chaos. You can play the Frozen Throne right of the start (if you want) but it is best to play Reign of Chaos first to get yourself acquainted with the whole story. As for the second question, yes, for both the campaign and the skirmish, you can play as different races.

Just a note: For the single player campaign, much like previous Blizzards' titles (Starcraft and Warcraft), the story is divided into different chapters and each chapter have a race. After you finish the first chapter, you will play as a different race in the next chapter. It's sort of like playing through the story from the perspective of different races.

DOTA is a nice game, but it sucks if you buy a new PC and have to download all the maps again, while getting kicked 99,9% of the time because they think you're a noob :(
