:mischief: Does anyone know the dimensions or format for forum signatures and avatars?

Moved to the proper forum.
Avatars size requierments can be seen in the Edit avatar options of your profile (Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 75 by 75 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).)
Signatures are text only.
And we prefer them not being so long that the majority of a post is not made up by signatures.

Actually, from what I can tell, Signatures can be no longer than 3 lines long.

Not 100% if it has changed lately, but at least it wasn't so some time ago when I quoted on song in my signature... and IIRC it was 4-5 lines long.
But there is limit of how many characters it may be, but can't remember the exact ammount.

*nods* They can't be longer than 3 lines. I had to struggle with that, apparently, they cannot be longer than 3 lines, including code. I was wonder, is there a way to make it not count the code you put in when accounting for those 3 lines?

Nothing major, but the code itself does take up quite a bit of space if you add multiple things like font, size, color, and center the whole thing.

Try PMing this to Buck as I'm not sure he is aware of that problem

So, has this actually changed lately? Since, as I stated in my previous post, it hasn't been always like that.

Things such as for instance signature size do get adjusted from time to time, but I do not recall last time the signature rights were adjusted as my signature have been a "one liner" for the last couple of years and thus I wouldn't run into limitations myself.

I would say it has changed during this year...
And also, it seems that if member had signature over 3 lines when the change took place the longer signature stays... or how else will you explain those 5-7 line signatures (for example Maharlika's signature...)
EDIT: Actually, it seems that the codes aren't calculated to the line limit, since my signature is about 10 lines long with codes, and the site accepts it, since when shown it's only 3 lines long...

Hmm, it didn't accept them with mine when I recently changed it. I deleted some of the code functions and it allowed the text, but didn't change what I had for actual text at all. I assumed it would be that it is counting the code, as I only have a 1 line sig. Now I'm confused.
![Confused ](./images/smilies/)
I played around with it for a while too, as I wanted to keep my old sig and add this one, which would have been only 2 lines + code. It got rejected no matter how I went about doing so.

Maybe it was rejected because of too many characters? As it seems that the code is calculatted in characters.

Probably. I had quite a bit of code in there. That would be just a different manifestation of the problem I PM'd to Buck, but still a problem if that were the case. It would still be counting the code as text.

The last vBulletin upgrade I did introduced some additional variables for administrators to limit user signatures, so that's why members don't have quite as much freedom anymore. You're allowed a total of 500 characters in your signature - 250 for text and 250 for BB Code. After receiving Magrus' PM, though, I decided to bump the total number of characters to 600 - still 250 for text but 350 for BB Code. The extra 100 characters will hopefully be sufficient to add any extra text formatting, etc. that you'd like in your signature.

OKay, I have currently a problem with the line limit:
I decided to change my signature today, and was going to change it to follow:
"I don't know how to make a distinction between tears and music" - Friedrich Nietzsche
"All healthy men have thought of their own suicide" - Albert Camus
Now, when I write it that way, I get error that it has too many lines...
If I remove the blank line between the quotes, the signature is only 2 lines long. So, with one blank line it should be 3 lines, right? But still the site thinks there is more than 3 lines...
Anyone knows why?

It's because it's seeing four lines due to the space limitations of the reply box. The reply box has it's own description of what a "Line" is for some odd reason.
In any case, because of this, it's seeing five lines instead of 3 like it is in the quote.

But in that case it should give me an error even with the sign without the space line, since it was about 5 lines long...
And that 2 -lined version went through without any problems...
