Recording 360 footage

A friend of mine asked me to post this (I dunno why he didn't create an account himself....). This friend has oblivion and wants to post some footage on youtube or something, but he's on xbox 360 and doesn't have one of those video capture cards (the ones that cost like $60). So, the question is: is it possible to record video game footage onto a pc without a video capture card (my idea was to link the system up to the pc, and find some way of making one of those screencap videos, but I'm pretty sure it's more complicated than that)?
Looking forward to some enlightenment,
TP

You could just use a DVD recorder and record while you play.

I'm not sure whether I've got a recorder or not, but supposing that I do, how would I record stuff?

I've got no idea, I figure it'd be the same as doing it with a VCR, hitting a record button if there is such a thing with DVD recorders.

Plug the xbox into the recorder, then the recorder to your tv. Once you do that, set it appropriately to record video(differs from one to the next, some have specific channels, the way VCRs do). Anyway, once you get that done, just hit the record button and it should start doing its thing.
Note though that this is going to be a HUGE video, since I don't think the machines bother with much compression, opting for quality instead. Again though, you can control that(to an extent with MOST recorders)
