I whupped up on the bad guys real bad...but when I clicked shift on the the
1st protruding tower brick, nothing happens. Is there a glitch or did I miss something? George K??????????????? Help! I can't start this game again. I am on level 17 now and at my age I feel that time is running out.

You have to be close enough to the brick/switch till a message says what it is.

I was all over the protuding block but nothing happened. I did this the first time I played the game and had no problem. I feel I have missed doing something so I am going back to when I first came in and going step by step with the walkthrough.....Thanks for the reply GK.
