does a signil stone give more charge than a grand soul? i enchanted strength onto daedric cuirass and it gave me plus 12, however a grand soul charge will give me plus 10? is it best to hunt down signil stones then if they are more powerful?

well going off what you told me I would say yes that it is probably better to use the stones but I will admit I do not know as much as I would like to about the game, in fact I didnt even know you could enchant with the sigil stones I will have to try this.

This would depend on your level. At level 20+, Transcendent Sigil Stones appear, who are, infact, better than Grand/Black Souls. For example i shall take Chameleon.
Grand/Black Soul Gem: 20%
Transcendent Sigil Stone: 30%

As you can see, they are definitly better at higher levels.

1 tip (SPOILER) If i was you, I wouldn't waste my time in closing about 6 Gates to enchant your gear if you want the same enchantment on all pieces. Just use the duping trick. I don't know the PC one, but here's the 360 version:

1) Equip a bow and arrows
2) Attempt a shot but do NOT release the ''fire'' button.
3) Go to your inventory
4) Click 3 times on the arrows you're using.
5) In the same inventory screen, go to the item you wish to duplicate.
6) Drop it, close the inventory screen, et voilá, you item times the amount the arrows you used, lies on the ground.

I find that a much better duplication method on the Xbox 360 is as follows:

(Highlight the following big space to read)
Spoiler
1) Equip any weapon.
2) Attack.
3) Enter your inventory before the attack finishes.
4) Press A on any set of unequipped arrows twice. Press A only once on a set of arrows that you already have equipped.
5) Choose any non-magical item in your inventory and drop it.
6) Exit your inventory.
7) There you have it, your item will be duped as many times as the quantity of the arrows thatyou selected. I.E. 84 arrows selected --> 84 duped items.
I frequently use this exploit to get gold by duping 84 Anora's True Amulets and selling them to the jewler in the Imperial City Market District. I get 87 gold per amulet.

thats cheating guys! wheres the satisfaction there! Working through oblivion gates (level 35 now) provides a great chance to build up those stats and find some great items, spent a few days bettling through 10 plus gates now got + 12 strength boosts on all my daedric armour, shields on all my light glass armour and absorb health and damage fatigue on my weapons - i love oblivion gates! managed to get most of my major stats to 100, both my heavy and light armour to 100 now, along with blunt and blade. does anyone know how many gates there actually are? its says on one of the the loading screens something about 16 princes of oblivion?

That has nothing to do with it. As long as you don't complete the main quest they will keep popping up if i remember correctly.

IMHO sigil stones are better, they seem to have more powerful effects
