Cutscene w/ Bishop not playing...

I seem to be running into a ton of bugs, but so far I've been able to find a way around all of them..
My latest one is a gamestopper though. I've saved Shandra from the githyanki, and then the inn gets attacked. I fight my way to the common room, and defeat all the enemies, and then the screen fades black like there'll be a cutscene. And then it un-fades, and I'm stuck. Bishop isn't in my party, can't go to Ember, Bishop won't talk to me, but Uncle Duncan warns me about Bishop as if he IS in my party.

Are you patched to 1.03?
I am, and didn't have this one....

you're serious that I have to patch to even finish this game?
I wonder how they miss bugs like this when they release it.. it boggles the mind :/
EDIT//:more troubling however is the fact that it seems I CAN'T patch.. this game is getting very, very annoying

The campaign has a lot of problems with cutscenes and scripts not firing properly. I don't know that patching is required, but it should certainly reduce the number of problems you have.
As for your problem with Bishop, you might want to load a saved game from before the attack on the Sunken Flagon and see if the scripts work properly when you play through a second time.

@ Mr. Socks, that's how they are forced to make the games nowadays unfortunately. The banks call in the loans before production would get done, so they finish whatever they can, sell the unfinished version, and then patch them.
As far as that error message, I would say you may need to try to uninstall and then reinstall your game and start over.

I've tried reloading from before the script, tried 3 times and the cutscene never works. I guess I could try reinstallation.. or maybe I'll just shelve the game for a while. It's fun and all, but it's getting to be more trouble than it's worth

I've sometimes had luck with drastic solutions.
Such as, turn the game to DnD hardcore rules (for area affects hurting party members) and drop a few dozen fire bombs next to Bishop KILLING him!!! It could work.
Once I had to kill all my party members except Ammon because too much animation (I guess) was crashing the game during a reaver battle.

'Githyanki Surprise' Bug, Cutscene Won't Play
so, I uninstalled and reinstalled, and patched to 1.03, but it didn't fix my problem at all.
I'm loading my game from Shandra's house, before we teleport to the Inn for the attack. The dialogue and the cutscene with your Uncle works fine, but after all the enemies are dead, it fades to black but then skips the cutscene.
Also, the quest "Githyanki Surprise", which is supposed to finish when you kill all the githyanki, is still in my journal, telling me to head towards the Common Room and kill all the enemies. For some reason, the quest isn't finishing, and I think this is causing the game to skip the cutscene.
I think if I can find some way to finish this quest, then the cutscene will play and I'll be able to continue..

Perhaps it might be wise not to fight the baddies at all?
Perhaps just allow them to do what it is they are doing without defeating them all?

Maybe you didn't kill all the baddies?
I had several fights before I even REACHED the commons.....

no, I made sure to kill every single one of them.. I dunno. Maybe I'll wait till 1.04, perhaps they'll decide to actaully fix all this crap by then :/
I was reading a Gamespy review and apparently they ran into a bug like this, they called it a "show stopper" bug, and had the same problem with cutscenes not playing. They also say that apparently that was fixed, and you just have to make sure you have your main character selected before cutscenes. This doesn't apply to me, however, because in this section of the game, you're the only one in your party

I guess I'll just wait for the next patch, whenever that is :/ maybe they'll fix the problems I'm having by then

There's a 1.04 beta that came out in the last couple of days.

so, 1.4 is out now, and it added a lot of cool stuff, but it did nothing to fix my problem. I just tried again, and the cutscene STILL WONT PLAY. I guess this game gets shelved until the next patch... maybe they'll fix it then

I have exactly the same problem.
Anything new you found out to help yourself out of this problem?

nope. I've pretty much tried everything, it still won't work. Game is shelved until next update.

My impression is that every cutscene has a console command that can trigger it. Have you looked into that at all? You might have to ask in the Bioware forums to get an answer.
