United Tarant and Caladon, King Missing?

There's no way to negotiate on behalf of Tarant to bring Caladon into the UK and then assassinate King Farad, is there?

As far as I can tell, the king disappears completely after the negotiations are over--is there anywhere he might be that I've missed? Maybe he's late to bed--I haven't found him in his chambers at 1 AM.
