Killing ghosts

Got a newbie question. How do I kill a ghost? Regular swords are useless (not a surprise from my Morrowind playing). But a lesser fireball doesn't seem to do anything either (which is a surprise). Maybe I just didnt hit it enough times?

Lesser fireball should do something, basically any magic can kill ghosts (or at least damage them).
So, destruction spells or magic weapons would do well against ghost.

If you haven't found any magic weapons, silver works on ghosts too.

And If you don't already have a silver wepion, try Lenwin Fighters' Guild(Silver Longsword) or any Mages' Guild(Silver Dagger)
