On Arvahn map I am trying to use the outdoor Statue of Purification i get the error "failure cannot use this item while in combat", this error was ment to be fixed by the latest patch but I keep getting this message and cannot get past this point. can any one help?

this is great game but so far i have been disappointed by Obsidian's poor quality control as i have similar unsolvable error in KOTOR2.

Any help would be welcome.

Regards
Chris

Welcome to the board. :)

First you need to be using spoiler tags when you are talking about spoilers and your title should reflect the question in a nonspoiler way, i.e. help with "Ritual of Purifcation quest".

Well have your tried to make sure there are no enemies on the map?
Have you tried to reload from an eariler save?
Can you teleport back to the Keep and return is it still bugged?
Does the battle music play in the background as soon as your enter the level or does it start as you near the Statue?
If so can you Sneak to the Statue?

I'll add a spoiler tag to this thread, but please do take the request in the sticky thread about spoilers seriously. Otherwise, your future threads might mysteriously vanish. ;)

Some one please help!

Thanks for the tip,
I've tried everything i can think of, this bug only shows once you've killed all the enemies on the map and like i said was ment to be fixed by the latest patch. I've even tried using to toolset and the console to try and find the right script but still no joy.

This seems to be a common problem. I think most people go back to a save from before entering Arvahn, and when they try again everything works fine.

New to PC gaming in the past decade are you? :p I learned the hard way too a while ago. Multiple saves are like the gaming equivalent to narcotics for people with broken limbs. It may not fix the problem, but it sure as hell helps.

Hmm

as I've said I've tried every thing i can think of including using the toolset to edit the script that checks if your in combat, the change does not seem to take effect, how do I get my edits to work?

Ok just for future references did you start this game with a previous version like say 1.1 and then upgrade to 1.3 (or whatever current is)?
I.e. continue a with an older version save, if so you might want to remember this as this can be a common problem in many games , especially causing broken quest.

Ok have your tried to go and complete the other Rituals in the gem mine and such?
If not I would suggest continuing and coming back to this, unless you have just decided to start over.

Help!

Yep, i've completed all the other statue quests.

I've been playing around with the Toolset and i've found the script thats triggered when you us the statue (24_p_talkstatue), i've comment out the lines that check if your in combat but the change wont take effect, any ideas?

Are you trying to edit the actual current file (make a backup if so, I am sure you know but I am just reminding you :) or were you makeing a mod edit which you would need start a new game with the mod active to take an effect?

Ok what about this have your tried your save game on another machine with NWN2, maybe a firends or office PC?
You could even try different patch states like 1.1 and 1.2.

Man I hope you fix this soon I am running out of ideas. ;)

Same problem, I've tried alot of things, doesn't work thought. So I was forced to reload before I enterd the area and do everything over again (blowing goblins up is always entertaining for some strange reason).

The saved game's size in this game is ridiculous - allready at 4 GB storage size, well atleast I don't have to worry about the above problem).
