A little help:

I recently finished SoA and the ame automatically transferred my party to ToB. Having played for a while, I got to Saradush? and need the key to get into the prison. I tried to get it off the priest, but she wouldnt give it to me, as my 'intentions were clearly evil'. I was a bit surprised by this, as my alignment was choatic good, bt when i checked the record screen, i ha indeed changed to neutral evil.
Any idea how this could have happened, or how i can change it back? I am aware that there is an item that makes you the opposite alignment, but i have checked and am definatly not wearing it.

You might have accidentally annihilated an innocent bystander at some point. An area spell could do it. Happened to me in BG1. Those pedestrians just got in the way, honest.
In BG2 I slapped the elf-hater around a bit and ended up paying for that in alignment points. Didn't notice that for a while and so had to re-earn my points, rather than reload.
If you have the cash, you could buy back some points at a temple by making donations, but I'm not sure if you can do that in THIS particular temple, seeing how the Saradush priestess isn't all that fond of you.
Can you load up a few saves to see how long ago the alignment changed?

Did you give in to any of the temptations offered you while in Hell?

yes, i think i gave into the selfish one, i didnt want to lose ability points. well, i suppose i'll just have to put up with it then. thanks!

Doesn't deliberately using slayer form also trigger an alignment shift to evil as well? Not relevant to the initial question as the poster already 'confessed' to choosing the selfish option, seeking clarification for my own benefit.

Those are all examples of things that will lower your reputation, not change your alignment.

I didn't want to lose my hard-earned ability points, but when I inserted the Tear, I went from true N to NE, so I saved, re loaded from before the test and took a 1 point dex hit - back to 18. getting the 2 AC improvements was nice, but not worth the alignment shift. thought about SK'ing it back, but decided not.

the MR is not entirely beneficial - I have lost being healed (yes the big Heal) to MR. I have 30% resistance at present. mind you, I did beat Irenicus on the second re-load - a simulcrum with 'protection from magic' scroll in hand cast on Sir Anomen - level ?32? with Crom Freyr in one hand and MoD in the other - laying a few skull-traps/glyphs of warding - sleeping and laying some more rather reduced his allies too - if only I'd had Yoshimo to lay some good traps. time stop worked rather well at adding to the trouble I could cause - summon fallen planetar aided me.
in effect, Anomen, the PC (mage level ?19?) and a buffed Aerie (!) (about lvls 14/12) beat the crap out of Jonaleth in a few rounds.

I didn't notice getting HP for finishing SoA, but having made sure my bag of holding was full before doing the tree - Cespanar had lots of work to so.
