Okay, anyone have the clue wether the problem of character changing is caused by my computer or something else? Basically, in some posts the symbol ' gets changed to something totally ele. This happens in some separate posts and especially in every post made by GameBanshee News...

ps. See the picture to get better picture of what I'm meaning...

Noticed that myself, it makes it really hard to read any gamebanshee news to be honest.

Might give a PM to buck as he's the one posting it if I remember correctly (Buck and Gamebanshee News are the same member).

I also noticed this too. Sometimes, it also can be hard to read those affected words especially when reading the GB News articles.

I've seen this too, though only in GB News articles.

Hmm, just figured I would point out that oddly enough, I am not experiencing this error. Despite the oddity of my having errors no one else deals with. So, it isn't everyone apparently. Then again, it could just be me as the only one who isn't.

I don't know if this is relevant, but the only other place I have seen this has been at the File Planet Morrowind Mod download page.

Had to check myself that, as I was remembering that I had it also in that File Planet Morrowing download -place...
And I remember correctly, same problem there...

Not sure if the problem is caused by same or different thing, though...

Well, not in a month or so...
But can't remember when exactly this problem begun...

Actually, I've noticed it as well. It only appears to be certain characters that are shifting, and even then it's only sometimes (at least on my screen). For example, in this news item, the eToychest quote displays two characters and a trademark sign wherever an apostrophe would appear. However, the quotes below it from Eurogamer and GameSpot include apostrophes that appear just fine to me. Bullet points in press releases seem to be an issue as well, but, again, only sometimes.

To be honest, I don't know what's causing it. Our news script has not changed whatsoever in 2 years, so I think it might be a server-side problem or possibly a browser issue. Is anyone NOT experiencing this issue (such as in the thread above)? If you're experiencing the same problem, do you have any idea when it started? I've only noticed it for a week or two, tops.

I amend my earlier post. In the issue you linked to, I noticed the errors mentioned. That is weird. I never noticed it prior to checking that link, and other threads worked fine for me.

I can't quite recall when I first started noticing it, but it has been recent. At a guess, within the last three weeks.

I use Firefox 1.5.0.9 and I have yet to notice this.

Actually, in that link it's also half working in the eToychest quote as well. Just look the fourth row first word, Crusader's appears normal, but everywhere else in that quote the character gets changed...

And it has been sometime now since I had any changes in browsers or updating it, but it could be that there has been some secret updates that Opera has downloaded automatically...

But then again, why it's doing it only at times, not always...??

I think we've implemented a fix for the problem, but I don't think it's going to retroactively fix the last few weeks of news posts. I had to go in and manually edit the review news post I linked to above, though after doing so it appears just fine to me. Let me know if you notice any new news stories (or other posts) displaying bizarre characters.

Okay, thank you very much. :)

Hopefully the fix really removes this small but still irritating problem completely

Thanks Buck! It looks fine now, even posts in GB News from a few weeks ago seem normal.
