Baldur's Gate novell? I have never ever seen that one unless you mean the SoA novell? to answear your question - I haven't red it, but I know where you can buy it.

At least here in Helsinki our local fantasy-games & academic bookstore sold that novell ... (that really helps, huh Image)

Not too bad of a book actually. Main character is a fellow by the name of Abdel. (You may remember him from the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion--saved game, which comes with the add-on).
Try B. Dalton bookstore
or Barnes & Noble (that's where I bought it).

Better yet try Amazon. They could use the business.

I bought the book "Baldur's Gate: A Novelization", Author Philip Athans, ISBN is ISBN: 0786915250
The main character is Abdel, a mercenary.

IMO it's not worth the money, compared to the old Dragonlance saga or the exiled drow it is just bad.

I haven't read any of the new D&D books, but I used to play D&D quite a bit. That's one of the reasons I really like the BG series so much. It does a good job of converting the pen, paper, and speech game to the pc.

Anyway, if you really want to read some great books set in the D&D realms, check out any book by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman. Start with the first books, I think it's Dragons of Autumn Twilight. They are great books by two superb authors. Also check out books by R.A. Salvatore. Another wonderful Author. He wrote the Dark Elf Trilogy, which features Drizzt as the main character. It almost makes killing him in the game seem sacrilegious.

These are really great books.

subterranean's right about that; The Dark Elf Trilogy and the Icewind Dale Trilogy, both by R.A. Salvatore (Who was one of my favourite authors before I even knew he'd written those...Hell, before I had even PLAYED BG I!), are all fantastic books, and really well-written. Afraid I can't say as much for the SoA novel...I'd send you THAT one for free, whereas I treat my Collector's Edition all-in-one Dark Elf Trilogy book like a bible....

Just finished reading both Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II SoA.......what a let-down.....I had so high expectations and theese two books were really nothing special....
They weren't bad but they weren't good either......
Half of the time I had to re-read certain parts just to understand what was really going on.....although I must say there were a lot of unexpected events in the book that I really hadn't imagined......

Does anyone else have any thoughts about the books....has anyone else read them???

Sorry K; I haven't seen this thread before. You can buy any fantasy or s-f books you like at www.sfbok.se - the largest store in Sweden for sure. I haven't read them yet, and now I think I won't either.
