improved beholders (tactics) anti-magic ray problems

Hiya again,
As some of you know, I'm soloing a blade (read the report here) and I'm currently trying to initiate the cult of the eyeless quest. The blade just reached level 18 and I can cast tensers transformation which turns me into a killing machine Check these stats out, after being fully buffed: (could do better, forgot draw upon holy might and such)
Anyway, only ONE puny beholder outright kills me. Their improved versions cast like 12 spells/round? I don't know, but the graphics are flying all over the place the moment I unpause the game, it's INSANE! paralyze, hold, flesh to stone, death spells, inflict, major wounds - okay, I can resist most paralyze stuff and I have spell deflection AND spell immunity: abjuration (next time necromancy) on. But one big problem - their anti-magic ray completely strips away all my precious buffs. The two skeleton warriors die after a minute or two, and without buffs or summons, I follow very soon.
Is there _any_ way to resist these anti-magic rays?
Any tips on slaying improved verisons of beholders?
(Without shield of balduran of course... Not going to use it if I get UAI either)

Edit: my Magic Resistance is 15 (sword balduran + amulet of power) - is this the problem?

Spellshield is a level 9 spell...Spell Immunities are best protections against their rays, and Spellshield will protect against Beholder's anti-magic ray. Though I am not sure if they use it in un-modded game. My smarter beholders are really smart, they bite with their poisonous teeth if someone uses the Shield of Cheese, and beholders always target spell-casters with Anti-magic ray, which dispels everything and causes miscast effect
Any bard-ways of doing it?
