Any ideas on purpose of altars and rune forges?

Post by mocha4paws »

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on the purposes of the rune forges and the various altars in the game. I couldn't find any quick answers in the walkthrough. I am actually on my second run through the game (yeah, it's that addicting!) and want to do a few things different, of course.
Any thoughts would be nice, thanks.

Several of the altars are involved in Celestial guild quests. This lists a few of them and which quests are involved.

The rune forge is something I have wondered too. I have tried out almost all of the classes and never received a quest involving it directly...

Maybe the rune forge is something like Frybone (the thief in Fargrove who has that little apartment in town...he serves no purpose that I could see, except to go in , kill him and loot his chest.) Just a thing the developers didn't finish or something. Maybe someone else has a better answer. :)

They have a little more purpose in the CE. For example, if you're an elf you can get a fire sword in Arindale, and you have to take it to the fire altar to charge it. There's also a weapon you can get in Skuldoon that needs to be charged. Probably HP intended for the altars to have more purpose but then ran out of time.

Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."
