:mischief: Someone I know bought Dungeon Lords CE, and after awhile he got Steve's Editor but soon it did't work (an indexing error). So I wrote him a program that would fix the bytes causing the error and allow the editor to then load the sav games OK. Then he found other problems (experience and advance number being off. So I added to my little program to fix those. Well now I have an entire editor (Dungeon Lords CE). It's around 500,000 bytes, but does pretty much every thing Steve's did, just not as flashy, minimal graphics. Would anyone want to try it out? I havn't had a chance to play the game much yet, I was having too much fun building my own editor. :D

You must have done something wrong; the files won't extract and the archive test also failed.

I had to delete Geasadair's post. He needs to get permission before we'll host his software on this web site.

Re-naming rar files to zip, and then making them self extract is kind of tricky. Here are some free file hosts, you could try uploading the editor to one of these sites and then posting a link to it here at the forum. If you can upload the file, then I think people would give it a try...

Free file hosts:

FileFactory - free file hosting

Free File Hosting

FlipDrive.com – Free Secure Online File Storage, Internet File Sharing, Photo & Video Sharing, Music Online, Store & Access Documents, Share Files Online, Online Data Backup

*edit* It is worthwhile to note that Winrar will extract rar as well as zip files. You can download a free trial here: WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files

I don't really think so. Here's why

I removed the zip extention from all three files. Then the files are still inside an archived file and yes the exe is inside the archived file. As a matter of fact, all three files inside their own archive has the same name.

Even when you rename the exe, then extract the 2nd file and rename it, then extract the 3rd file.

When trying to run the exe, it still asks for the original file names before any thing was removed or renamed.

Therefore, I firmly believe you really didn't manage to get the exe to run. Just in case you did, why didn't you say exactly how you went about it

AAA GK i see your error and yes i have!!!

simply because you didnt understand the direction or perhaps the mechanics of the compression scheme..

heres what you do...

turns out you made thinkgs more complex i always assume pepole are simple*sorry its true *
so i did exactly.. what was posted...

rename each of the 3 parts so it is exactly as it was minus the ".zip"
dlv3.part1.exe dlv4.part2.rar etc...

(do not extract NOR rename and dont extract Then rename anything not specifcly listed here... this is a "span" ..and running the first file it will hunt find and extract the others if they are all in the same directory..)

run the 1st part "dlv4.part1.exe" should be its name..

that is it..

Do not pre extract the other 2 files..
doing so may cause errors...

since you have publicly implied im lying id like you to try this..method and then when it works appologize as publicly..
thank you..
Brad

and for extra credit maybe reply to my post re locations ive always thought youhad a better than avrg handle on things...

Editor Link

Ok here's the link at the File Factory:
FileFactory.com - free file hosting
When you get there you have to click: Download for free with FileFactory Basic, which will then ask you to match numbers letters before allowing you to dl. This is my latest version, hope you like it. :o This program does not need the .Net Framework to install. L8er

Anyone able to give me a link to the file or send me the file as the link posted above doesn't seam to be working for me, and it sounded like something good to have for when bugs show up.
