Feelings on walkthroughs

Just wondering how you guys felt about using walkthroughs. They seem pretty common place now when anyone gets stuck.

I try to use them only when im contemplating giving up playing because I can't get passed a certain spot. Some people seem to use them freely to get through the game smooth and quickly as possible, just to see the story.

I've lurked here for a few years and finaly decided to register :)

Hi! And Welcome to Game Banshee!

Interesting question. For me, there are two occasions when I use walkthroughs. Either it is because I'm utterly stuck after trying every possible avenue, or I'll look at a walkthrough's section after dealing with a particular area, just to make sure I haven't missed anything.
I generally try to avoid walkthroughs at a general level, though.

I'm pretty much the same as DW :)

When I play through a game for the first time I generally try to avoid using a walkthough unless I really feel I have no other choice as, for me, they spoil the fun of figuring things out yourself, plus quite often give spoilers away. The next playthrough I try to explore every avenue and aspect of the game, and will refer to walkthroughs after finishing an area just to check that I've not missed anything.

Looks like we are all on the same page.....using only as a last resort or after we've finished to see if we've missed anything. :D

and a Big Welcome to GB.
Enjoy your stay.

i think the same.

thought came to me today when i was talking about being stuck and a friend said "go find a walkthrough".

its been awhile since i've even had to resort to one. i think ocarina of time was the last time, for those damn skulltula coins.

Just checked with some friends and they too, use them only as a guide.
I believe the last time I used one was to check all the side quests available in Morrowind. ;)

As what the rest had mentioned, I also use walkthroughs when I'm stuck at a certain part of the game or whether if I did the right thing or not. That's pretty much it.

For me, I usually use a walkthrough when I get stuck somewhere in the plot.
