Poll on Difficulty levels.

Ok, theres been some discussion at IEEAIS over the difficulty levels, and I was wondering what levels everyone uses, mostly.

This is information so I can adjust any of my AI developed in the future towards a new standard. From the discussion I have heard, Core would be better of having more enemies, that are smarter, than same enemies hitting for double damage. This is one reason I dont ever play insane...unexplained bonuses for monsters is just a little too much cheese, imo. Anyway I want to hear thoughts on what difficulty everyone plays at most of the time, and why...Thanks in Advance.

I play core. Because I'm a hardcore PnPer and that's the closest to it.

Insane. It makes up for some of the poor AI.

Generally speaking I play the game on Core rules, mainly because I don't like the fact that on normal you get max HP/Level and that you automatically learn all spells.

However at the moment I am soloing through on insane lvl just so I can say I've done it.

Core or Insane is a big difference for fighters but for spellcasters this is not so because if you are taking damage you are in trouble whatever the difficulty. I prefer core, but I must say that the chance to learn spell seems corrupt.

Core, because you do the right amount of damage to monsters, and they do the right amount to you.

core or insane, depending on mood. I much prefer the way heart of winter handled it by providing heart of fury mode. tougher monsters all around with extra experience is my favorite.

I play core rules due to being a role-player.

I play core rules when roleplaying with minimal saves.

I play insane when powergaming, cheating, and cheezing.

Core D&D rules. Too bad there isn't a Heart of Fury mode for BG2... :(

Core
BG2 seems easy because AI in the game is poorly done (the best known example would be the use of cloudkill spell for dragonslaying). The only worthy enemies, in my view point, are player-controlled mages ;)

Nobody ever used Easy? First time you ever played, maybe? I usually start unfamiliar games on the lowest possible difficulty setting. If I hadn't been familiar with D&D rules, I'd have started BG1 at Easy as well.
