I have this nasty problem when entering ncr city, after the first gate from the bazaar. There is a cop, and in the bazaar all is good. But when I enter on the exit grid leading to the city (green), it loads, and everything goes to hell.

First off, everything is suddenly slow, like glitchy and most of all, there are some chars missing from the map (like sheriff dumont, deputy klark), which is the problem because obviously cannot continue game.

I've installed all the patches:

- on the version 1.0, I put 1.02
- on it I put 1.05 + unoficial for \data and fallout2.exe up

All this, and some of this, and every possible combination on/off still doesn't solve it.

Tried also to reload, to reinstall, and then every type of inst.

THE SAME !

win is 98se, but the hware is kindda old. No viruses or adwares also

Hmm - I've never had this happen to myself, so outside the usual tactics of reinstall/repatch (perhaps try without the unofficial patches) I am afraid I personally can't give you much advice.
