Hi im new to posting here but have been looking here for a loonnnggg time i got sick of glitches in downtown (and the sword sound at the beginning) so i download 1.2 official, install then discover 3.4 unofficial so i download that, and i carefully read it's instructions and basically i put it in Vampire - Bloodlines folder and hit "Extract Here" and only options that came up were to overwrite the files (like it said) and no folders which was good, so then i hit vampire.exe and it goes "blah blah turn off emulation for cd/dvd and retry" and i wasl ike WTF I SPENT 2HOURS FOR THAT?!?!?! (my comp's dl is slooowww) and then i actually uninstall and reinstall and it says it again, so i *reading this will make you NOT sue me or harm me* decide to uhhum... get some emulation stuff because i paid $20 for a game the company abandoned many years ago so i got some of it then i start it up with that and halfway thru trailers it says "turn off emulation blah blah" and i hit ok but it goes to menu so im like "YES SCREW NOT EMULATING!1!11!!" then when i hit load game (i got up to freaken LA then i tried to downtown on dif clan again) and then it says that emulatiopn thing again so i hit ok then it closes... any clues to why the hell this doesnt work? well i first had it installed with the emulation stuff (BECAUSE my cd-drive is screwed so i used my other comp (the slow one) and then i installed on that and copied across) then i swap cd-drives then i uninstall and reinstall so i can get the patches (wont let me otherwise) then yeah this happens... any ideas?

I can appreciate that you are frustrated, but watch the language, please and thanks.

I'm betting that it's crabbing about the emulator precisely because it's an emulator. Allowing the thing to be run from a CD Emulator would amount to Troika tying themselves to a lamp post in the bad part of town with a baseball bat at their feet and a sign hanging from their neck that reads, "Please beat me to death slowly and painfully and then steal everything I've got". It would be an open invitation to rampant and immediate piracy.

As it turns out they died anyway, but I bet they didn't know that when they were making the game. My advice? Pop for a new CD-ROM drive. You can get cheap ones for less than what a game costs. Or, if you have one of those places that sells used computer parts, you can probably get a fairly good one for the price of a Big Mac. I've chucked perfectly good 32x drives just because nobody I know would accept them for *free*.

Uhm, Bloodlines works fine with Deamon Tools, dont even need to turn on emulation.

Given that you paid for it, i believe at worse its perfectly legal for you to simply get an ISO of the game, mount it in DT, and run the game. Its certainly not an "heavily protected" title or anything of the sort.
