What does the book of ever lasting spells do? I have it but dont know how to use it.
Also do I need the first bg2 patch to play multiplayer? I have the newest one but not the other. Also this may seem lame but does anyone have any tips on the part of the asylum dungeons where you have to fight some one goloms and skelaton warriors? It's the dungeon 'level' with dace sontan in.

The book of ever lasting spells, i believe, allows to to cast whatever spell is on the page of the book currently open.... you can turn a page to try and get a different spell but there's a chance that the next page will be the last page and the book will be destroyed (i think)

I have a book of Infinate Spells(?), is that the one? Well IIRC you equip it in an item slot and click on it to cast a random spell. I have hardly ever used it so I couldn't tell you how high the spell levels go. Once you turn a page that is one less spell. It does run out.

You do not need BG2 patch to run multiplayer.

nononono the book of infinite spells does NOT run out of spells. You can use it once per day I think. On the first page you have fireballl I guess. Now you have one extra fireball per day. You can try switching the spell by turning pages. You can not turn back so it is quite risky to change if you just had a good spell. Finally you will get to the last page and then you can no longer turn the page. You still have unlimited ammount of whatever spell the last page has on it.

the higest level spell i ever got was level six (truesight and call wyverns)
