Hi, I'm just wondering if any of you have seen a quest that includes Jeanette standing by a jacuzzi. I've seen pics, but I don't know if they exist in the game, or if they just are a protype.

No such aminal unless it's in one of the unofficial patches. It could be a prototype, so maybe somebody re-skinned one of the PCs or NPCs to get that screen cap. I think Celacena once re-skinned herself as Jeanette - maybe it's her.

Not the point, alleykatt. Have you ever found any hint or trace of any quest anywhere that had anything to do with a pearl? Nope. Hence, not part of the game, Malk cow-girl or not. That is what Animaxander was alluding to.

He didn't actually say that the character doesn't exist - just that scenario doesn't exist. However, point conceded. I can see the point of confusion. No harm nor foul.

The cowgirl on the back of the box clearly an NPC, not the player. I'm sorry, I thought that should have been obvious. After all, when was the last time you had a frontal view of your own character with dialogue options dislayed beneath? This is a screenshot of the player talking to a vampire NPC dressed as a cowgirl and asking about the Pearl of Dubai.

The pearl's item file still exists but the quest, and the NPC cowgirl, do not. I believe the unofficial patches actually place the pearl in the game somewhere, but I don't recall where.

Oi! less of your cheek!

I didn't skin-up Jeanette, even though I like the idea.

just because I usually play female vamps (who have girl-on-girl tendencies, I may add) that doesn't mean I am actually of the female gender. I'm a guy and so was the original Celacena - he was a long-running multiclass half-elf in PnP games back in my student days and yes, I did also have a girlfriend, strange as those two facts may seem when combined.

if you have to watch your character wander round LA for so many game-hours, you might at least have a decent rear...

to quote Space "the female of the species is deadlier than the male"

Abject apologies, Celacena, merely operating off historical language referents. Names ending in 'a' tend to be female, so I made an erroneous assumption based on that. I apologise.

point taken

Caligula was real girl's blouse.

I don't suppose the avatar - a bear my wife made - helped much.

Yeah, the teddy bear threw me as well.

that bear

is a drunkard and a thief!

it drinks orange-flavoured liquors to keep its fur nice and removes orange-coloured notes from my wallet, if I leave it anywhere nearby.
I had to pay for a take-away at the door once - went to my wallet and no £10 notes. managed to scrape some change together and pay - searched the place and the bear had my money.

I was not amused.

Anyhow - I found the original painted lead figure and photographed it. I may change the avatar to one of my fantasy-figure photos, but that will not change the 'a' ending - as in Caligula and Dracula.

Enough, already

Whether or not Caligula was even human is, IMHO, a question worthy of discussion :) However, granted, Caligula was apparrently the name of a male, in Latin, which by itself is a bit unusual. As Emperor, though, Caligula would be free to violate any and all conventions that he chose to violate, which he apparrently did at every given opportunity.

However, as Dracula goes, keep in mind that that is an English interpretation of a Romanian nickname. As I understand it, the original person was "Vlad IV, Voivode of Wallachia", and signed himself "VVV" (Vlad, Voivode, Vallachia"). He gained the appellage "Vlad Tsepes" - Vlad the Impaler. 'Dracula', though, as a derivative of his father's place in the House of the Dragon - Vlad Dracul. I don't know exactly what the Romanian dimunitive of Dracul would be, but I suspect it would be "Draculi' or something of that nature.

Any Romanians in the community are totally free to correct any and all misapprehensions I may be making. I am by no means an expert on such things, and I would trust a native Romanian to adjudicate such misapprehensions correctly.

In any case, this is not by way of apology or explanation, and I have no problem with your appellage - or the teddy-bear. Tell your wife that it's an adorable creation - she has gifts. I just made a mistake, that's all.

Could we please put this to bed? I screwed up. I cop to that. I've apologised. I've explained, inasmuch as it should be necessary. Let Celacena be Celacena, gender be damned, and it's a really cool teddy-bear. 'Nuff said.

you had a good point

I just hadn't realised that the name with an 'a' would lead to gender confusion. I've used it so long, I'll stick with it - 'a' and all. But I am now alert.

getting back to dracula - there are lots of names in fiction (and some in history) that have that 'Draco' [dragon] origin - the word 'draconian' meaning extremely harsh; Drax, Dracula and some others - including Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter. I wonder if Conan started as "Draconan" ?

re-skinning the PC could take a lot of effort - even if there is an NPC with that skin - it may need adapting for different weapon use or movement that the NPC doesn't have. seems like a job for pros.

Little me-note

Re skinning yourself isn't hard. I do it a whole mess of the time, its fun. its getting the npc's to work that irritating me. that could just be coz i do like 5 of them without checking after each one.

Just my contribution :p

re skinning up

is there an article you could recommend?

I don't know how complex it is at all.

some of the costumes are less than pleasing.

(I don't like the F brujah's hat for starters)
