Just finished second run through of NWN (inc SOU & HOTU). Loaded NWN2, got the patches (eventually) and tried to play but it won't! When I select play from the main menu it twidles away for while and then says no Direct3D compatible device found. I have: reinstralled the game; updated my video card driver; checked latest verdion of Directx; NO JOY. I have a AMD Athlon CPU and a GeForce2 MX 400 graphics card - not cutting edge but have always done fine. Any advice?

I'm not sure what to say concerning this.. . I've never had that sort of problem :( I couldn't play NWN2 for about three weeks after I bought it because of my video card. I had a GeForce FX 6100, and I had to upgrade to an FX 6600. I'm not sure if the MX 400 is equivelant to that, but regardless, the video card shouldn't have issues concerning the DirectX, as the graphics card is hardware, and DirectX is a software driver... I dunno. I wish I could be of more help

Ummm....Dude, a Geforce 2 is like 8 years old now. It doesn't have a chance in hell for running NWN 2.

Lol. Well alright, I, myself, didn't know that. I've never heard of the "Hundred" series.. Only the 5200 +

Thanks for replying. B4 I go out and get a new card there is one thing I wouldn't mind some input about. 1 - my motherboard (K7 Kriton) has 1 APG (2.0) x4 slot and severral PCI (33MHz, 2.2) slots, so what can I get that will play NMN2 that will fit one of these? Sorry if I sound a bit thick but I guess I am on this sort of thing.

You'll struggle to get a decent PCI card as newer cards are PCI Express not PCI and will not work in PCI slots. I'm not sure about AGP but I would have thought this would be your best option rather than PCI.

My GeForce 6600 is a cheap card, but it works well, and allows me to play NWN2. It doesn't even fit into a PCI, but fits into the PCI Express. So if you're planning to buy a GeForce, I think they (NVIDIA) go toward the PCI Express slots... Good luck to you in your endeaver, friend.

There ARE some AGP cards still available that will play correctly - the key is the available memory on the card.

You might want to look at upgrading your system, however, if you want to CONTINUE buying new games; I swear that programmers are in league with hardware developers.

Hmm, I'm running NWN on a dual core mac powerbook. Well, I'm trying to, but the Direct3D thing is popping up.

I have a "Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express" with a total memory of 224 Memory.

I'm not sure what that means.

Is there hope for me to run this on my machine?
