Moving from the Baldur's Game II forum, where it didn't belong, to Oblivion.

Nope, necromancy is impossible in oblivion without a modification. The only "sort" of necromancy is really trapping a humanoid soul with a black soul gem, and that's not that beneficial.

I would also suggest that you take your time when posting, this is incredibly hard to read and for people to help you, it's a good idea that they know what you're talking about.

Yeah, we can tell. ;)

Anyway, there are some undead creatures that you can summon out of thin air (not from the ground or fallen enemies) and some spells like soultrapping or draining attributes. There is no necromancer class or skill, but you can try combining all these elements. It'll require convinced roleplaying on your part, because once you have invested heavily in a class like Conjuration, there's nothing stopping you from using a-typical summons for a necromancer, like daedric armor or planar rather than undead creatures. You'll just have to avoid buying them.

if you do the mages guild quest line you get a pretty wicked necromancer staff from killling some necromancer guy, has tons of charges and its easy to recharge. it reanimates dead for 30 seconds i believe ( for those who dont kno what reanimate means: bring back to life dead people )

Trapping with black gem not beneficial? I disagree. With every human scum I kill, with the almighty Umbra, I get a filled black soul gem which is the equivalent of a grand soul gem with a grand soul captured. This is greatly benefits me, considering I don't ever have to find a grand creature (which can be a pain in the butt).

I have to agree with Dredd Pirate. There are only a handful of creatures with grand souls like minotaur lords and xivilai, whereas you can't put one foot in front of the other without tripping over a bandit or a marauder. (Or if you're evil, a beggar or a shopkeeper or a guard...)

Back on topic, if you were playing on the PC (which I know you're not), there are several mods that let you be a "real" necromancer. On the 360 you'll have to be content with some of the roleplaying-based alternatives mentioned already. One more simple suggestion along those lines: necromnacers have the coolest robes in the game, so be sure to loot one off of a necromancer body and wear it.

Perhaps my biggest single complaint about the game is that after you become Arch-mage you still don't seem to have any authority in the Mage's Guild, and the biggest example of that is the fact that you can't reverse Traven's policy on necromancy
.

Necromancy is a pain in the ass

well I was just reading some things for soul trapping. I really don't know what's so benifishal about soul trapping. It really does nothing. Well I also asked the same question. It truly is a pain in the ass. I really wanted to study necromancy, it seams so cool just killing main lander species and making zombies like some sort of shamen, (Not in real life of course) But all I know is that there robes are cool. I liked watching what they did. I am a master thief for the thieves guild, I am on the last thieves guild quest which i just got to. Well it's a gyp that you can't refuse to the dark brother hood speaker. I didn't even kill anyone. I did the grey prince's quest and then became grand champion after killing him. Then once I saw he didn't want to die I tried leaving. I couldn't so I had to kill him and it said, "Your killing has been witnessed by forces unknown." This had happened before but I just reloaded to before I killed the innocent. But I had to kill the grey prince it was legal and it got me A LOT OF FAME. But that's beside myself. Really necromancy would be cool experimenting on a dead man's corpse. Lol That would be fun think about it. I have been wondering the same thing Liborator so don't think your alone. Though my charrie isn't really evil. Just a thief and an arena combatant. Now that's just a cover up. The fame is a good thing if you have it huge then chat up some of the guards they will take care of your fine. So far my infamy is 16 (no clue how it got so high, maybe when I got caught steeling when my stealth was low it's now 100 lol) but get this my fame is 46, just by doing mini missions and completing my arena missions lmao. Well here is my mind posted on this thread.

In plain view... no. But you can summon ghosts/wraiths, skeletons, zombies, necromancers; and you get called a necromancer. But because its banned everytime you hear it its in an insulting way.
A human soul is equal to a grand soul which is a big help since 60% of enemies are human but only black soul gems(not azura's star) can trap them which is a PITA to get.
If you complete the mages guild you get all of the king of worms stuff and access to the arch-mage tower for perks.
Also once your a necromancer you have access to conjurer(Deadric summons) spells so you might as well be mixed. Plus their is a reanimate spell to make them fight along side you but I think its a limited time deal.
Stepping into the arena is like a binding contract that you can LEGALLY not MORALLY kill someone. The second has to be self defense to be moral. Because the gray prince does not attempt to hit you its considered murder but because you are in the arena everyone cheers for you. Personally I say jus stick with the with w/e is the strongest creature which is either the necro mancer or strom atronach. If you do the elemental scene go with the atronach, brute force is for the necro. Those things are tough when they are against me.

I'm not into necromancing. I don't like the idea of disturbing the dead, just my two cents.

Spoiler Alert!!!!

I'm also not into necromance but you could wear necromancer robes and hood taken from a dead necromancer. Also, Conjuration school is mainly for necromancy as it can summon undead (and daedra). Black Soul gems can also be created at altars. One such altar is in Dark Fissure, near Cheydinhal. You get access to it at least via Mages Guild guests.
