Bug! Please help

Post by Kharas »

Err I had been playing for half an hour or so, and my computer suddenly booted for some strange reason (completely random).
So I just start the comp up again but when I click the icon I get the autorun where it says 'install'. I have the game installed! So I try to run it from the file where I actually have the game installed and the same thing happens. I have no idea what to do, but the problem seems oddly familiar, think I had it before some time..

After having a look at it again it looks like my computer just hasn't registered that it's actually installed, which makes it hard to uninstall.

Please help!

Try installing it in another folder. You may have to uninstall it using add/remove programs under the control panel.

so this is not something that a patch can fix? or perhaps deleting some script in some file?

It sounds more like a corrupted file or a virus to me. If you uninstall the game and re-install it, corrupted files will usually be overwritten and you may even be able to use old saved games. Sometimes just deleting the default game in saved games is sufficient to rectify things if your computer has crashed.

possible solution

did any of you manage to fix the problem yet?

if no, check whetever your PCs have C-Media sound-device installed (on-board-sound or sound-card).... if yes on that, update your drivers
I used to have this problem with rebooting too until I updated my drivers for said device... now everything appears to be working (1 houre gameplay without a single problem :) )
