How do I enter cheat codes? I've seen a couple of threads which say that the ~ key during gameplay opens a command line, but it doesn't for me. [The key's fine - it works in Word!]

Try to enter your cheat codes into the "chat box" you can see just above your quick bars? The ~ never opened anything for me, either, but just typing the cheats into the chat bar, each on its own line of course, does it for me.

For me, the ¬ key usually opens cheat consoles (on the UK keyboard it is the key directly to the left of the number 1 key) rather than ~

Not much success guys!
How can I type anything into the chat box? I can't get a cursor into it.
The ¬ key does get me a command line, but codes don't seem to work. For instance, if I enter SetSTR 20 and ENTER then I don't get an 'invalid command', but neither does this have any effect on the strength of the character who was selected to start with. I've tried a few of the posted codes, and none of them seem to anything at all.

Have you tried typing DebugMode 1 before entering the code and then DebugMode 0 afterwards? (pressing Enter after each stage)
eg. DebugMode 1 then press Enter, "the code you wish to use" then Enter, then DebugMode 0 then Enter

...just tried this. DebugMode 1 got me a line saying 'DebugMode(1) toggle request sent to server'. Entered SetINT 15, then DebugMode 0 & Enter, which got me a 'DebugMode(0) toggle request sent to server'. Then exited the command line.
No effect on character stats.

Are you playing multiplayer on a server? If so then it could be that the people that run the server have disabled cheats on that server, which is why it is sending a request to them.

Before you enter debugmode you must select the character you want to modify by right-clicking on their portrait; they must show as the target for action at the top of the screen.

I believe I know what's the problem, but you guys will have to tell him exactly what to look for and do. He didn't made those changes - inserted needed lines into nwnplayer.txt documents in a game which alow cheats/changes/whatever.

Single player - no server [isn't using cheats in a multiplayer game a bit unethical!?]
I've been typing DebugMode 1 before entering a code, and DebugMode 2 afterwards. The character I was trying to modify was definitely the selected target.
I've found an nwnplayer config file in my NWN2 folder. Haven't the faintest idea what to do with it - very wary of editing it.
All this is because, having finished the game and been disappointed with the ending, I want to try the inner sanctum again as an evil character, because several posts say it's more fun!
