How to tell weapon rating?

In some weapons there is a +2 or +3 behind it. For example the throwing axe +2 or arrow+2. Some weapons just have a name. How do i know it can hit baddies that require +2 or +3?

Generally if they have +2 on the damage or thaco then they are +2 weapons

Look for the minimum common '+' on the weapon's attack roll and damage.
Just looking at the damage can be misleading because some weapons have a "natural" '+' to their damage (e.g. a common hammer or mace). The attack roll bonus can also be misleading; Spinesheath, for example, has a +5 to attack but a +1 to damage, so it is a +1 weapon.

What about the spell spiritual hammer? Is it a +2 weapon at higher level then +3 weapon at highest level?

Yes.
I don't use the spell very much. Usually only when short of sling bullets or in the early game against weapon immunes before much magical ammo is available.

I'm not sure if it really works that way.
My level 8 cleric couldn't hurt Yxonomej with "spiritual hammer", although it should be considered a +2 weapon then.
Anyone tried using this spell in the final battle ?

Its pretty cool cause the R/C can get a 3.5 attack per round.
