Hi,
I am a newb who have just played bg2 for a week, and lurkered here a few of days, i read many posts about how to create power-gamer characte, now, i have some questions...

First of all, i need to know how 6 attributes effect charactor's ability, i know mage/sorc need high intelligence, and high dexterity helps thief's skill, but i can't find a table to explain how all of attributes effect every kind of char's ability.can i find one?

and 2nd, 9 alignments...every alignment has different "Familiar" by Find Familiar spell, but what else?

any help/comment are welcome.thx

The tables that show how the different attributes affect characters are in the back of the manual.

Besides Familiars, alignment affects your starting reputation, whether or not you can use certain items, and in the case of Druids, Mages, Sorcerers and Clerics what sort of spells you can get eg. Summon Deva/Fallen Deva, Summon Planetar/Dark Planetar, Holy Word/Unholy Word.

you can pretty much just think of role playing to figure out hwo to play a character. obvously strength is a must for a fighter, intelligene for a mage, etc.
think about your character and what you want them to do and act throughout their game. do you want a clumsy hearty wizard?...give a low DEX but a high CON.
the more you role play, the more you'll enjoy the game.

Always makie sure you have a high dex.never mind the class.
Constitution is good for hitpoints but later on this dousn't matter very much but don't but it below 12.
SPOILER (SMALL)

A cheasy trick i used once is to put my charisma as low as possible cause in the beginneng of the game you'll find a ring that put's you charisma to 18 so you have more point to distribute between other skills.
For a first game i would recommand an good alighnment beserker of plain fighter.
In that case you need high dex, con en strenght.

This may actually seem obvious but guessing that there are other people out there as "stupid" as I was the first time I played BG1 (loooong time ago). I didn't realize that you could subtract and add from one ability score to another, and therefore had to reroll untill I got some that "sort of" fitted. Nothing new for the majority - but maybe good information for a newb.
