Thinned Blood.
Thinned Blood.
After I free Lily from the chair and get the dialog to the end, she doesn't do anything, doesn't run, just stands there looking at me and I can't move either, I'm stuck between the two chairs and can only look around, but can't crouch, jump or move. Help? ![Eek! :o](./images/smilies/)

First, I've never seen that happen, or heard of it for that matter. Having said that, I'd say you are engaged in a "clipping accident".Shairkon wrote:After I free Lily from the chair and get the dialog to the end, she doesn't do anything, doesn't run, just stands there looking at me and I can't move either, I'm stuck between the two chairs and can only look around, but can't crouch, jump or move. The way that scene is to play out, you free her, she kills the blood bank guy, you talk, she runs off, you walk out into the corridor, talk to the jerk and then you're on your way.
From the time you choose to set her free, you are in frenzy mode (the mode you are put in when you don't have any direct control of your character). Note that this is not the same frenzy as you get from fear or hunger. This is the frenzy mode you are placed in for any cut-scene. Your frenzy doesn't end until after she has run off and you are dutifully marched out into the corridor to meet the jerk.
What I suspect has happened here is that a clipping accident has anchored Lily to the floor. She probably has the soles of her shoes embedded in the floor. Since she can't run off, you can't march into the corridor, and thus you are all stuck at that point. This kind of thing is not uncommon - a poster recently described getting shoved into the wall in a warehouse after talking with a bum. That, too was a clipping accident.
If this is the case (and I am not certain, it just seems to be a good candidate), then your only recourse is to restore to a game save before you elect to free Lily, and do it all over again. The chance that the accident will occur twice in a row is remote, and you should be OK.
This, incidentally, is why I quick-save every few minutes. The quick-saves rotate in a sliding-10, so there is no down-side aside from the time you lose during the save, and it will ultimately save you a lot of grief.
Good luck

Erm, thanks... if you say that I'm frenzied but it's a different type, maybe I should try getting some blood (it's currently close to null) and then re-freeing Lily... if that won't work, I'll just take your advice and load an autosave from before I chose to take the quest. Thanks for answering!

I found that out totally by accident. When you're in any cut-scene, try to activate any discipline. It will tell you that you can't do that while you're frenzied.Shairkon wrote:Erm, thanks... if you say that I'm frenzied but it's a different type, maybe I should try getting some blood (it's currently close to null) and then re-freeing Lily... if that won't work, I'll just take your advice and load an autosave from before I chose to take the quest. In the game-space, "frenzy" means that the game controls your PC - you do not. In the game instructions, this is always given as the condition that you are hurt, or frightened, or hungry, and you lose control to the "beast". To the game, though it just means that it's driving and you're a passenger in your own body.

I loaded far, far before I even got the quest (Thinned blood) and came to the beach...spoke to E, got the quest, went to the Diner, got Lily's stuff, went to the parking lot, got diary out of the trunk, went to the blood clinic, opened freezer, freed Lily and after the dialog with her I just get stuck again... can't move, crouch, jump, use weapons or activate any disciplines... I even have half of the bloodbar full...
I don't even know what to do anymore.
In addition, I noticed another short post complaining about the same thing, but no one must have noticed.

Says I'm frenzy or whatever but having not been attacked that's crap.

I have the official 1.2 patch and unofficial 4.02AT both installed
I haven't had any problems with game freeze before installing the 4.02 and no matter how early into the game I load or of I restart a new game, same thing happens... my char freezes between those damned two chairs...
I guess I'll just have to skip the quest alltogheter and carry on.![Frown :(](./images/smilies/)

I've never even heard of the 4.02. Maybe that's the source of the problem. What was the last stable unoffical patch? 3.5 something? Try rewinding to that. Maybe you patched a bug into the system.Shairkon wrote:I have the official 1.2 patch and unofficial 4.02AT both installed![]()

That's probably the reason. Patches 4.02 (and 4.03) are (right now) just unauthorized derivative mods of my patches that may have introduced new bugs while trying to remove changes they deemed not necessary.Jhereg wrote:I've never even heard of the 4.02. Hmmmm.. howcome you never heard of it? It's exactly at the beginning of the page (Vampire bloodlines) on gamebanshee webpage.

The folks at Tessmage.com have released a v4.02AT "True" unofficial patch for Troika's Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, which introduces only bug fixes instead of "controversial, frivolous, and unbalancing gameplay modifications" we've seen in the game's other long-running set of unofficial patches. "
That's the one I'm talking about... 156 mb or so. What patches do you all have? Only the official 1.2?

I currently play the game again with 1.2 and Tessmage's 4.02 patch installed. No problem with the quest on my side.
Can you try the scene again but this time with the console open, this way you should be able to see what error occured ( at least that's how I understand it ).

That's what it says in the console after the dialog ends... (The chareditor line is mine, used it to get out of the console, escape or clicking the X doesn't work).
Just a few missing wavs? That shouldn't cause the char to freeze. (Lily looks around and such, she's not frozen). I think I'd better uninstall the 4.02 and re-install the old patch...

I haven't heard of it because I don't look for unofficial patches. I play vanilla 1.2 official always. If it ain't broke, I see no reason to fix itShairkon wrote:Hmmmm.. howcome you never heard of it?

I hate to bump an old thread but this is happening to me to.. No matter how many times I reload it happens.. I just sit there stuck.. I did a search and this is the most recent post I can find on this..
I am running the unofficial patch 4.3
Have you tried reloading from an saved game outside the clinic? The other solution would be to open the console, type "frenzyplayer" and then hope that Lily survivesRhiannonn wrote:I hate to bump an old thread but this is happening to me to.. I just wanted to say that I've got the same problem. I tried all of the suggestions in this thread, but none of them worked. I started all over again several times with very different characters and played completely different each time, in vain. It only worked the very first time I played it. No need to go through all possible solutions again, I just posted to let you know that there might be more players having this problem than you think ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/)
