I just started - am I supposed to have the other pyramid piece before I go into the catacombs? I just have the one piece, if I use it I end up somewhere I can't get back from. yes, I am a dumb noobie

Exploring the catacombs will help you to get the other pyramid. There are nifty teleportation tricks you can do with both pyramids, but I'll let you discover those.
