Special Party

I'm looking for that special party that I can take from the start of SOA to the end of TOB. This party should have the least number of members (1?) as possible and I won't have any NPC's except for their specific quests. I need thief skills for the traps and would like to have an evil cleric type if possible for turn undead.
Please post what you think would be the best set of members such as dual kensai/mage and a dual thief/cleric etc. This would be a type of power gamer except that most of the best solo's can't disarm traps. Any ideas from anyone? I want to maximize XP's while getting most of the best special abilities. I also like fighter types but love to see some of the spell effects. In otehr words I want it all with the least number of party members. Hope someone can help out. Thanks.

My suggestion:
1. MC Ranger/Cleric
2. MC Fighter/Mage/Thief (no 9th level spells)
or
1. MC Ranger/Cleric
2. MC Fighter/Thief
3. MC Fighter/Mage (9th level spells!)
The first choice will get the most XP and should provide ample abilities for you to power-game your way right through without dying too often.
But, if you're really gonna do a self run multi-player game, might I suggest a NO DEATHS/NO RELOAD game.
I've done this a couple of times, and it brings new meaning to the term role-playing. You play as if YOU were there. Believe me, it's a lot of fun.
Whatever you decide, good luck!

That's what I want to do. No deaths no reloads. ANd since I haven't played TOB nor have I explored all areas in SOA it should be a challenge. That is another reason why I want the thief, cause some traps can kill you outright. Does anyone know if the XP cap remover for SOA work on TOB? If that's the case then the F/M/T can reach the high levels. Ofcourse it would take around 20 million XP's for the level 28 mage.
Also what about a Paladin Undead Hunter and a multi thief/mage? This would give some turning, fighting, high level priest and mage spells along with the thief skills. ANy thoughts?

A real powergamer class is the Kensai/Thief:
Choose the "use any item" ability and search for a good plate armor.

If your gonna do Kensai/thief don't use plate armor, use Dragon Scale that way you can still use thief abilities.
As for your Paladin, thief/mage party- The paladin only gets up to 3 4th level cleric spells.
I suggest MC Ranger/cleric and MC mage/thief.

The only thing that a thief can't do while wearing armor heavier than leather, is hide in shadows, if you got enough potion of invisiblity (there are plenty of them in BG II and ToB) you can use them. Also you can remove the armor, hide and put the armor again.

Why a ranger/cleric and not a fight/cleric? What does the ranger have that the fighter doesn't and that the cleric side can't replace. Just curious.
So is a two member party of MC's mage/thief and fighter(ranger)/cleric the best for my original question? Finally, a dual kensai/thief doesn't give the thief skills at the start. I want to start from SOA. Thanks.

A ranger has druid spells and a cleric has cleric's spells. Dual classed Ranger/Cleric has both druid and cleric spells.

Besides, you keep randger's ability for Stealth, which might be useful.

IMO, ranger's stronghold is more fun than fighter's, and you can get Moon Dog figurine. This small friend can be useful,.. and it always good to have a friend!

Swashbuckler-Cleric dual should do it all in one, I suppose. Dual at level 25 or so to Use Any Item (from what I heard, that makes the transition a lot easier).
