Sometimes I get the message "Party has gained X amount of XP" (for instance, when doing the 8 chambers challenge with the Monks).

Is this XP that every party member gets, or is it a number that is divided among the party?

It is divided between the party members, if they get it each then it lists their names together with how much xp they each get.
