Thanks Trademeet, now I can't sleep... ever.

I was on my way back to Trademeet to do some do gooding for the town, you know with the Djini's and all that jazz. I had been galavanting about the country side for some time, and had been waylaid by my coleages, pesky critters that they are. Two of players were gripping about not sleeping, so I tried to remedy the situation, but to no avail. No problem, I'll just go elsewhere and sleep, it worked the last time I did it so it should work this time. Off to the the druid grove I go when I meet up with Nalia's dastardly sutter and has decided arresting her would be the most romantic way to sweep her of her feet. "Just think honey, in ten years we'll look back at this and laugh". Well I'm not laughing because I can still not sleep. OK so a new twist in the story line, I can deel with that. Maybe I just need to advance the story line a little. I go and talk to Habib the Turbin bearer; although, I am not about to go galavanting about the country side collecting random heads, which usually means I have to remove them first. This tends be difficult considering I was low on HP, magic, sleep, and now one less person in my party. I'll go down to the docks and try and advance that story line a little. Of course old boy wasn't anywhere to be found. I found Mook though, I still hadn't talked to her. So I talk and than I get in a fight. The Rainbow Warrior Cowled Wizards show up to spoil my fun and comence waxing my ass all over the water front. Now I'm just plane irritated. So I'm writting, and will soon grab a beer. Any suggestions?

I had this happen once and I just saved and exited the game. When I came back, I could sleep. If it says you can't save, just go somewhere that it Autosaves and then quit. If this still doesn't work, try removing all the files in the Temp and Cache directories under BGII. This tends to fix alot of wierd problems. I hope this works.

I've also found that if you're told you can't sleep at an inn, try at least once or twice more. Sometimes, that second or third attempt is the charm.

Re: Fable
I think that has to do with the sound file being said by the bartender still playing when you click on the button.

i've been denied rest as well in an inn, but when i chose a better class room i was allowed to rest...this may have just been a coincidence if that sound file thing is true

I often cannot sleep at an inn the first time I try. I then immediately click on [Rest] again, and no problem; I rest.
I once had a hiccup in the de'Arnise keep where I could not save or sleep. Thought it was part of the game (to keep you in a hurry), but I read on Baldurdash that it was probably an unfinished dialog with Lady Delcia's bodyguard waiting to happen...

Same for me most times, especially if I hit the rest button fairly quick.

The problem is simple. If the innkeeper is still talking, you can't rent. Wait til he shuts up. The same is true if someone is being healed.

Also one other place that I couldnt sleep was down in Hell. After i beat down irenicus at the Tree, I still have summons up there and they STAY up there. Apperently also Irenicus resurrects up there too so then they fight it out. Stupid can not save during a fight.

This happened to me once. My two Aerial Servants did thousands of HPs of damage to Irenicus, who, of course, still wouldn't be polite and die for me.
