Seeing Sound and Song

We have a lyrics thread, we have a thread or two with YouTube Videos, but we don't have a thread dedicated to music that combines lyrics, video and song.

So this thread is a place to post your favourite music videos and their accompanying lyrics, thus creating a complete experience. The only thing I ask (beyond the obvious rules ;) ) is that you try to use videos or live concert clippings that are actually intended for the song they accompany. If you do use fan-made videos, please try to ensure they capture the essence of what is being sung (Of course.. that is subjective, but... ;) ).

Hold On

They hung a sign up in out town
"if you live it up, you won't
live it down"
So, she left Monte Rio, son
Just like a bullet leaves a gun
With charcoal eyes and Monroe hips
She went and took that California trip
Well, the moon was gold, her
Hair like wind
She said don't look back just
Come on Jim
(Chorus)
Oh you got to
Hold on, Hold on
You got to hold on
Take my hand, I'm standing right here
You gotta hold on

Well, he gave her a dimestore watch
And a ring made from a spoon
Everyone is looking for someone to blame
But you share my bed, you share my name
Well, go ahead and call the cops
You don't meet nice girls in coffee shops
She said baby, I still love you
Sometimes there's nothin left to do

Oh you got to
Hold on, hold on
You got to hold on
Take my hand, I'm standing right here, you got to
Just hold on.

Well, God bless your crooked little heart St. Louis got the best of me
I miss your broken-china voice
How I wish you were still here with me

Well, you build it up, you wreck it down
You burn your mansion to the ground
When there's nothing left to keep you here, when
You're falling behind in this
Big blue world

Oh you go to
Hold on, hold on
You got to hold on
Take my hand, I'm standing right here
You got to hold on

Down by the Riverside motel,
It's 10 below and falling
By a 99 cent store she closed her eyes
And started swaying
But it's so hard to dance that way
When it's cold and there's no music
Well your old hometown is so far away
But, inside your head there's a record
That's playing, a song called

Hold on, hold on
You really got to hold on
Take my hand, I'm standing right here
And just hold on.

Crucify by Tori Amos

Every finger in the room is pointing at me
I wanna spit in their faces then I get afraid of what that could bring
I got a bowling ball in my somach, I got a desert in my mouth
Figures that my courage would choose to sell out now

Ive been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
Ive been raising up my hands- drive another nail in
Just what God needs, one more victim

Why do we crucify ourselves
Everyday I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Everyday I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains

Got a kick for a dog, beggin for love
Gotta have my sufferingso that I can have my cross
I know a cat named easter, he says will you ever learn
Youre just an empty cage girl if you kill the bird

Ive been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
Ive been raising up my hands- drive another nail in
Got enough guilt to start my own religion

Why do we crucify ourselves
Everyday I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Everyday I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains

Please be
Save me
I cry

Looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
Ive been raising up my hands- drive another nail in
Where are those angels when you need them

Why do we crucify ourselves
Everyday I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Everyday I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains

Hallelujah, Jeff Buckley (from L. Cohen).

Dont' know if this will play okay, found youtube to be a little jumpy. Putting this on Dragon Wench's ,lyric, video and song but could equally be on Tricky's quiet guitar post/string. But already put Led Zep's That's the Way on that, think really especially perfect for that line of thought. But this too...hadn't realised Leonard Cohen had written this, always had a 'downer' on him 'bird on a wire' etc...deep gloom, but you live and learn, every day.

YouTube Music Videos 60s 70s - Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah - Noolmusic.com - MySpace YouTube Video

Okay, hope this plays out. Buckley, why oh, why oh, why...Wish you were still with us.
Love to:
Jeff Buckley
Leonard Cohen

and Shrek.

Seeing Sound and Song/Hallelujah/Jeff Buckley

Lyrics following on from video/seeing/sound.
Title: Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah lyrics
Artist: Jeff Buckley

i heard there was a secret chord
that david played and it pleased the lord
but you don't really care for music, do you
well it goes like this the fourth, the fifth
the minor fall and the major lift
the baffled king composing hallelujah

hallelujah...

well your faith was strong but you needed proof
you saw her bathing on the roof
her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
she tied you to her kitchen chair
she broke your throne and she cut your hair
and from your lips she drew the hallelujah

hallelujah...

baby i've been here before
i've seen this room and i've walked this floor
i used to live alone before i knew you
i've seen your flag on the marble arch
but love is not a victory march
it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

hallelujah...

well there was a time when you let me know
what's really going on below
but now you never show that to me do you
but remember when i moved in you
and the holy dove was moving too
and every breath we drew was hallelujah

well, maybe there's a god above
but all i've ever learned from love
was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
it's not a cry that you hear at night
it's not somebody who's seen the light
it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

hallelujah...

I like to play Broken Social Scene in the mornings, for the happy thoughts. Not my favourite song (which would be 'Ibi Dreams Of Pavement'), but as far as I'm concerned this is their funniest clip: YouTube - Broken Social Scene Fire Eye'd Boy

Until the day you die, you'll always admit
That you were right, you were right
About all those things

Fire eyed boy, give em all the slip
Fire eyed boy, give em all the slip
If you gonna come, you better make it quick
Fire eyed boy, give em all the slip

Until the day I die, Columbia I blame
Let us burn, back to life
To do it all again

Fire eyed boy, give em all the slip -
etc..

I know tons more music.. but I'll save that for later. ;)

NOOSE
(music: Tenkula & Sentenced, lyrics: Lopakka)

No way out of your misery
Alone in pain and agony
Lay depressed and hollow
One thought in your mind
-No Tomorrow

And then you had made up your mind
and thought it was your time
You left this world without shedding a tear
without hope, without fear

So you thought you'd just put your head
into the Noose and let it all go...and so you did
Oh yeah, you did

Now you come haunting every night
Calling my name until I...
wake up feeling this sorrow
One thought in my mind
- I will follow

I'll drink the booze to depress myself
then I take the rope and express myself
I'll leave this world without shedding a tear
without hope, without fear

Yeah, I think I'll put my head
into the Noose and let it all go...and so I will
Oh yeah, I will

I'll take the rope, just like you
and wherever you are, I'll be too

I think I'll just put my head
into the Noose and let it all go...and so I will
Oh yeah, I will
I'll add more in my next break... :p

I guess I'm in something of a melancholic mood right now... ;)
Regardless, I think these two angst-ridden songs by Melissa Etheridge express a place many of us have visited at least once in our lives..

I will Never be the Same (the video is actually fanmade to match scenes in the Buffy series which I have not watched, but it certainly seems to fit the mood of the song)

So you walked with me for a while
Bared your naked soul
And you told me of your plan
How you would never let them know
In the morning of the night
You cried a long lost child
And I tried on I tried to hold you
But you were young
And you were wild

But I, I will never be the same
Oh I, I will never be the same
Caught in your eyes
Lost in your name
I will never be the same

Secrets of your life
I never wanted for myself
But you guarded them like a lie
Placed up on the highest shelf
In the morning of the night
When I woke to find you gone
I knew your distant devil
Must be draggin' you along

But I, I will never be the same
Oh I, I will never be the same
Caught in your eyes
Lost in your name
I will never be the same

And you swore that you were bound for glory
And for wanting you had no shame
But I loved you
And then I lost you
And I will never be the same

But I, I will never be the same
Oh I, I will never be the same
Caught in your eyes
Lost in your name
I will never be the same

Late September Dogs (sorry, the audio quality is not great, this sounds much better on the album)

Just outside my window I hear the late September dogs
And I understand their warning I understand their song
Since you left I feel the change in the air
And night after night I'm searching for mercy everywhere
So I wake in the street and I call out your name
I shout to the sky please

Come on let it rain
Let it rain down on me
Let the rain touch my hands
Let the rain set me free
Let it rain down on me

Silence is the steel that pierces and cuts me to the bone
In dreams the hand that touches you is mine and mine alone
Cruel is the light is the morning shining down on me
Hours with the Devil to understand just what you need
So I wake in the street and I call out your name
Shout to the sky come on

Come on let it rain
Let it rain down on me
Let the rain fill my eyes
Let the rain set me free
Let it rain down on me

Just inside the distance I hear the late September dogs
And so I beg for sleep the child who walked before she crawled
Damn my soul that remembers and clutches to this pain
The spear in your side is me

Come on let it rain
Let it rain down on me
Let the rain touch my hands
Let the rain set me free
Let it rain down on me

A little personal history here.
Ever since hearing this song at quite a young age, it sent literal chills down my spine. As an adult, it continued to haunt me. It was also when I was older that I found something out...
My father was marine engineer by profession (now retired)... At the time that the Edmund Fitzgerald sank.. his ship was on Lake Superior... They heard the Edmund Fitzgerald's Mayday, but they could not go back as they would have put themselves into danger....

Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy.

With a load of iron ore - 26,000 tons more
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty
That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
When the gales of November came early

The ship was the pride of the American side
Coming back from some mill in Wisconson
As the big freighters go it was bigger than most
With a crew and the Captain well seasoned.

Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
When they left fully loaded for Cleveland
And later that night when the ships bell rang
Could it be the North Wind they'd been feeling.

The wind in the wires made a tattletale sound
And a wave broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the Captain did, too,
T'was the witch of November come stealing.

The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
When the gales of November came slashing
When afternoon came it was freezing rain
In the face of a hurricane West Wind

When supper time came the old cook came on deck
Saying fellows it's too rough to feed ya
At 7PM a main hatchway caved in
He said fellas it's been good to know ya.

The Captain wired in he had water coming in
And the good ship and crew was in peril
And later that night when his lights went out of sight
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Does anyone know where the love of God goes
When the words turn the minutes to hours
The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
If they'd fifteen more miles behind her.

They might have split up or they might have capsized
They may have broke deep and took water
And all that remains is the faces and the names
Of the wives and the sons and the daughters.

Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings
In the ruins of her ice water mansion
Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams,
The islands and bays are for sportsmen.

And farther below Lake Ontario
Takes in what Lake Erie can send her
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
With the gales of November remembered.

In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed
In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral
The church bell chimed, 'til it rang 29 times
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald.

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they say, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Let's stay at the path given by DW, melancholic songs...

The video is live version of the song, so it ain't the best in quality, but still rather good...
Dead Boy's Poem

Born from silence, silence full of it
A perfect concert my best friend
So much to live for, so much to die for
If only my heart had a home

Sing what you can`t say
Forget what you can`t play
Hasten to drown into beautiful eyes
Walk within my poetry, this dying music
- My loveletter to nobody

Never sigh for better world
It`s already composed, played and told
Every thought the music I write
Everything a wish for the night

Wrote for the eclipse, wrote for the virgin
Died for the beauty the one in the garden
Created a kingdom, reached for the wisdom
Failed in becoming a god

Never sigh...

"If you read this line, remember not the hand that wrote it
Remember only the verse, songmaker`s cry, the one without tears
For I`ve given this its strength and it has become my only strength.
Comforting home, mother`s lap, chance for immortality
Where being wanted became a thrill I never knew
The sweet piano writing down my life"

"Teach me passion for I fear it`s gone
Show me love, hold the lorn
So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me
I`m sorry
Time will tell (this bitter farewell)
I live no more to shame nor me nor you

And you... I wish I didn`t feel for you anymore..."

A lonely soul... An ocean soul...

My brother had tons of taped '80 music laying around in his room and I used to borrow/steal his Fishbone, Urban Dance Squad, The Cure and Sisters of Mercy tapes whenever I had the chance. At one point he finally got fed up with me and made me some mixed tapes. :)

The following Beowulf inspired song by Marillion is solely responsible for germinating my musical ambitions. It's a 20/25 minute piece by the old Marillion formation with Fish at the helm. I'm not going to post all the lyrics here because it would be far too much. It can be found here: Marillion | Grendel lyrics

This is a live concert by the way. As far as I know it was never made into a tv clip. Would have been neigh impossible though.

Part a, nine minutes: YouTube - Marillion - Grendel ~ Live (part 1 of 2)
Part b, eight minutes: YouTube - Marillion - Grendel ~ Live (part 2 of 2)

I didn't understand English at all back then, so I was mainly mesmerized by the music. Today I can appreciate the poetic nature of most old Marillion songs. Grendel takes that over the top though.

At part b during 'The Finale', around 4:51 and 5:58 a synthesizer starts to pick up. You don't really hear it in the video, but on my brother's Market Square Heroes tapes it was much louder and amazing. It really stood out and gave me goose bumps all over whenever I heard it. All I could think was, 'I have to do that!'. Then I coaxed my parents into buying me piano lessons. :D

Gosh, times were so simple back then. :(

YouTube - The Decemberists - Red Right Ankle

The Decemberists - "Red Right Ankle"

This is the story of your red right ankle
And how it came to meet your leg
And how the muscle bone and sinews tangled
And how the skin was softly shed
And how it whispered, "Oh, adhere to me
For we are bound by symmetry
And whatever differences our lives have been
We together make a limb"
This is the story of your red right ankle

This is the story of your gypsy uncle
You never knew cause he was dead
And how his face was carved an ripped with wrinkles
In the picture in your head
And remember how you found the key
To his hide-out in the Pyrenees,
But you wanted to keep his secret safe,
So you threw the key away
This is the story of your gypsy uncle

This is the story of the boys who loved you
Who love you now and loved you then
And some were sweet and some were cold and snuffed you
And some just layed around in bed
And some, they crumbled you straight to your knees
Did it cruel, did it tenderly
Some they crawled their way into your heart
To rend your ventricles apart
This is the story of the boys who loved you
This is the story of your red right ankle

Ventricles.. :o

Recorded at Paradiso in Amsterdam. I was there and I think I'm audible near the end, around 3:00. :D

Time to resurrect this thread. :p

Okay, first song: Master Passion Greed by Nightwish. The video ain't actual video, as there will never be one nor this song is ever going to be sang live, but at least you get the feeling of the music. ;)
Master Passion Greed

Who the hell are you to tell me
What to do, why to do, why bother
Leech in a mask of virtue
Such waste, to ever think of you again

Hey Judas, your Christess was our love
Hit and run, your will be done
Never sorry, never wrong

Master passion greed

"Hello. How are you?
Let me explain one thing.
All for her and more for me
Why is it so hard to see?
I see no sense in doing this
Not enough for me
I **** up everything but let me explain."

Some day you shall flee,
Panting and weak

Master passion greed

All within me gone but pain and hope
Hoping that the pain would fade away

Greed, your master passion
I Feed the mouth that bites me
Mammon, opiate of the masses
The reek of your lies draws flies

Seek her
Seduce her
Tame her
Blame her
Have her
Kill her
Feast on it all

With awakening the tears will begin
To my everlasting shame silence took me
Those of you who know a bit about Nightwish and especially the reasons why Turunen was fired, you probably know to who this song is made to :D

Next song, also from Nightwish's latest album:
Bye Bye Beautiful
Bye Bye Beautiful

Finally the hills are without eyes
They are tired of painting a dead man's face red
With their own blood

They used to love having so much to lose
Blink your eyes just once and see everything in ruins

Did you ever hear what I told you
Did you ever read what I wrote you
Did you ever listen to what we played
Did you ever let in what the world said
Did we get this far just to feel your hate
Did we play to become only pawns in the game
How blind can you be, don't you see
You chose the long road but we'll be waiting

Bye bye beautiful

Jacob's ghost for the girl in white
Blindfold for the blind
Dead siblings walking the dying earth

Noose around a choking heart
Eternity torn apart
Slow toll now the funeral bells

"I need to die to feel alive"

Did you ever hear what I told you
Did you ever read what I wrote you
Did you ever listen to what we played
Did you ever let in what the world said
Did we get this far just to feel your hate
Did we play to become only pawns in the game
How blind can you be, don't you see
You chose the long road but we'll be waiting

Bye bye beautiful

It's not the tree that forsakes the flower
But the flower that forsakes the tree
Someday I'll learn to love these scars
Still fresh from the red-hot blade of your words

...How blind can you be, don't you see...
...that the gambler lost all he does not have...

As the first song was deidacted to Turunen's husband, this song was dedicated to Tarja herself...
Oh, and the video is actually the official video, the boys of Nightwish just made fun of themselves and especially of their manners and behaviours while playing... :D

EDIT: Sorry, forgot totally that Master Passion Greed contained one word that wasn't suitable to this site... but if you definately want to know it, it's the F-word :p

Let's revive this thread with something... more extreme
Some grindcore with Australian band The Berzerker
YouTube - The Berzerker Death Reveals
Death Reveals
Death reveals man what he really is

Is death freedom from this world?
The one's who knew you will soon FORGET
That you have now attained WHAT YOU WANTED
So why should it be HAUNTING YOU?

As the generations past and time leaves you behind
Existence will be now erased from other people's minds
so that once a living being affecting many other lives
I can see that all you feel is PLEASURE

Are you unaware that there is comfort found in pain?
The endlessness of all the thoughts compounding in your head
shows you the tragedy of willingly, wanting to be here.
Existence is meaningless in OUR WORLD

Hurt that frequents your mind a constant memory
Of a life that is not always WANTING
To be free of all the PAIN AND HATRED
I can almost feel it WHY CAN'T YOU

Death is to be free of and to cause ultimate pain
Life is fleeting moments of regrets and poor decision making
So many untruths to sort through never knowing why
One day I shall understand why WE DON'T

Can't understand the mortality of man?
Why do I use words of hate to fund communication?
Does the perfect world exist already, in my mind
I can see it, I can feel it
Is death freedom from this world?
The one's who knew you will soon FORGET
That you have now attained WHAT YOU WANTED
So why should it be HAUNTING YOU?

Death is to be free of and to cause ultimate pain
Life is fleeting moments and regrets and poor decision making
So many untruths to sort through never knowing why
One day I shall understand why WE DON'T

Are you unaware that there is comfort found in pain?
The endlessness of all the thoughts compounding in your head
shows you the tragedy of willingly, wanting to be here.
Existence is meaningless OUR WORLD

The 80s thread over in SYM ended up reminding me of this great song.. one of U2's finest.

Running to Stand Still

And so she woke up
From where she was lying still
Said we got to do something about where we're going
Step on a steam train
Step out of the driving rain
Maybe run from the darkness in the night
Singing Ha La La La De Day
Singing Ha La La La De Day
Sweet the sin
But bitter the taste in my mouth
I see seven towers
But I only see onw way out
You got to cry without weeping
Talk without speaking
Scream without raising your voice
you know
I took the poison
from the poison stream

Then I floated out of here
Singing Ha La La La De Day
Singing Ha La La La De Day
She runs through the streets
With her eyes painting red
Under black belly of cloud in the rain
I through a doorway she brings me
With gold and pearls stolen from the sea
She is raging
She is raging and the storm blows up in her eyes
She will suffer the needle chill
She is running to stand still

Some songs again. First one is from Finnish metal band Ensiferum.
One More Magic Potion
One More Magic Potion

Once when we were returning from a battle and
We got lost in a gloomy forest
in the middle of the woods
we saw an old house
with tired minds we knocked
the door very loudly
Old woman opened the wooden door
She asked us to come in
with kind words
From her pot arose a scent so weird
Stunning and bitter but very summoning

Bring me a magic potion
it will heal my aching wounds
A taste so bitter that makes
my bleeding soul feel so good
It will make us sing and dance
in our endless feast
Or it might even unleash
the beast in me

She filled out pints with that devils beverage
And served another round with an hideous grin
The world was spinning in a new light I saw everything
and everyone was singing this song

With nature, trolls and the spirits of the forest
We are one; let our singing rise up into the stars
The witch's magic drum was still beating hard
When a goblin brought me a new pint and together we roared

Drink and dance!
People of the forest sing with us!
Who wants to brawl with me?
Who can shape a kantele from a pike's jaw?
Like the great one once did

Close your eyes
Calm your mind and drift away from the pain
Beyond dreams
Into the depths of the cauldron
Like a rain it falls
And mirrors nature's healing powers
Surrender this time
And relief you shall find

Catcher of souls
hunter of spirits
Grant us the final frop of the life's elixir
I want to drown all my misery
Into the green trolls blood
And brown swamp drink
Fight against diminishing time
Burden of a solitary warrior's life
Catcher of souls
hunter of spirits
Grant us the final frop of the life's elixir

Bring me a magic potion
it will heal my aching wounds
A taste so bitter that makes
my bleeding soul feel so good
It will make us sing and dance
in our endless feast
Or it might even unleash
the beast in me
The second one is from Tarot.
Crows Fly Black
Crows Fly Black

Screaming in flames, down from the sky.
That's how he comes in my dream.
Trail of tortured souls, a black boiling wake.
A ghost ridden string with a bone-aching hum.

And the crows fly black.
Now the crows fly black.
And the crows fly black.
Only crows fly black.

Breathing the fumes of cities ablaze.
A god descends crushing us all.
Walks on the hills emptied of life.
Veiled by ashes and snow the hills are blind.

And the crows fly black.
Now the crows fly black.
And the crows fly black.
Only crows fly black.

Earth and sky as one in countless pieces.
Time stands still, frozen in the flow.
In the dust the faces of the fallen.
They're erased in the fall of snow.

Fly forevermore.
Hell was here, now no more.
End of war.

Come to the feast of war...

And the crows fly black.
Now the crows fly black.
And the crows fly black.
Only crows fly black.

But I always liked this one...

Here Comes the Rain Again

Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion
I want to walk in the open wind
I want to talk like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you

So baby talk to me
Like lovers do
Walk with me
Like lovers do
Talk to me
Like lovers do

Here comes the rain again
Raining in my head like a tragedy
Tearing me apart like a new emotion
Oooooh
I want to breathe in the open wind
I want to kiss like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you

So baby talk to me
Like lovers do

Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion
(here it comes again, here it comes again)
I want to walk in the open wind
I want to talk like lovers do
I want dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you

Hey DW! It has been so long, so so long since a post at GB. However, I implore you (and all others reading) to check out the Jayhawks, and alt-rock/country band that started in the 80s but still plays today.

Eyes Of Sarahjane lyrics

Warwick Hotel
I know it well
We lived a dream so sweet, so sweet
I see Philly in the snowy gloom
We could have laid there 'til afternoon
Our cut runs deep, so deep, so deep
And the eyes of Sarahjane
I see the happy times again
And in the eyes of Sarahjane
I see the happy times again
We couldn't sleep
Laugh 'til we weep
Then time stood still, so still, so still
Talked for hours in our bed
I fell in love with every word you said
It felt so great, so great, so great
And in the eyes of Sarahjane
I see the happy times again
And in the eyes of Sarahjane
I see the happy times again
People love to fall in
Love they love to fall in
People love to be amused
But you won't see me laughing
In the sadness of our ways
Those were the days
Those were the days
And in the eyes of Sarahjane
I see the happy times again
And in the eyes of Sarahjane
I see the happy times again

Enjoy.

A Wee Deoch-an'-Doris

There's a good auld Scottish custom
That has stood the test of time.
It's a custom that's been carried out
In ev'ry land and clime.
Where brother Scots foregather,
It's aye, the usual thing:
Just before we say "Good nicht!"
We raise our cups and sing:

Chorus
Just a wee deoch an' doris,
Just a wee drap, that's a'.
Just a wee deoch an' doris,
Before we gang awa'.
There's a wee wifey waiting,
And a wee but in vain.
If you can say "It's a braw, bricht,
Moonlicht nicht,"
Well you're a' richt, d'ye ken!

I like a man that is a man,
A man that's straight and fair:
The sort o' man that will and can
In all things do his share.
I like a man, a jolly man,
The sort o' man, you know,
The chap that slaps your back and says,
"Man, Jock, afore we go . . .
Chorus
