Hi, I've started another new game as a human cleric focusing in on frontline fighting, but with magic. My domains are air and fire, and even though i don't have the spells yet, my character is pretty powerful so far. I was wondering though, if they were the best ones to choose, or are there ones that would've been better suited to the challenge. Any replies would be helpful.

Personally, I like to go for the domains which increase turning abilities and healing abilities, as they provide the "best" (IMO) value in connection with the clerics abilities.
However "best" is subjective

You should have chosen strength and war domain.... Both of these can give you some pretty neat bonuses.
Strength domain special abilities and bonus spells:
· Divine Strength: Once per day, the cleric may gain a bonus to Strength equal to 2 + 1 per 3 class levels. This effect has a duration of 5 rounds + the cleric's Charisma modifier.
· The cleric gains access to the following spells at the specified spell level: bull's strength (1), divine power (3).
War domain special abilities and bonus spells:
· Battle Master: Once per day, the cleric may gain a +1 bonus, plus 1 per five levels, to Dexterity, Constitution, attack rolls, and damage. The cleric also gains damage reduction equal to twice this amount. Like the barbarian's class ability, this DR is not overcome by any material or magic. The effect lasts for 5 rounds + the cleric's Charisma modifier.
· The cleric gains access to the following spells at the specified spell level: enlarge person (1), Tenser's transformation (6).
Just remember that you should have a good charisma to make the duration of the special abilities longer.

I gave a Drow the sun domain once. That was weird, but it worked decently against the undead in the 3rd chapter. I didn't finish that game because personally I don't like to pick campaign-specific classes. Making choices that tie into future stages of the game stops them from being choices at all. Feels a little like cheating to me.

I prefer the Earth domain, which gives you both Toughness and the spell Stoneskin.
