Defensive harmony stacks

I just found this out fiddling around. Defensive harmony stacks. A great buff spell with a casting time of only 1. So when some baddies show up, Jaheira and my cleric/ranger can each cast the spell for a cumulative AC bonus of 4 for the whole party, and then go join the fray.

only one big problem with that.

It lasts for about 6 rounds which is nothing because once you start to cast the spell again and again the first time you casted it would only have about 4 rounds left because of the time it takes to cast the others.

i would just rather cast blur 3 times to get a extra 6 ac. which lasts much longer. :)

Good point. I suppose the fact that Defensive Harmony stacks is more useful if your party has two or more clerics and/or druids, so that each cleric and/or druid can cast the spell at the beginning of the fight, and then join the fray.

Also, most fights don't last more than six rounds, and unlike Blur, Defensive Harmony gives an AC bonus to the entire party (if they're within the 10 foot radius).

Defensive Harmony is a great little spell in the early game, when the bonuses it provides can make a big difference against relatively weak enemies. Later on, it really takes your spellcasters' time away from the more powerful stuff they can throw.

Casts very fast too, so your Clerics can get straight to the business of skull bashing (or bullet slinging), since they can't cast for the next 5 seconds anyway.

BTW, does anyone ever use Chant? Or, rather, did anyone actually verify that Chant gives the bonuses it claims to give? If it does indeed give damage bonuses, it might be even more useful than Defensive Harmony.

Chant does work as advertised. You get a +1 to hit (turn on the extra combat info to verify) and +1 to damage. It's a spell I always cast before going into battle. Stacks with the improved bard song, so the whole party gets +5/+5!

Also lasts longer than defensive harmony.
