Spell Scrolls-How to Cast Them

OK, I give up. I can't figure out how to cast a spell from a scroll, as one does in Neverwinter Nights. I can write them to spellbooks, but I can't cast them (the character in question is qualified to use the spell in question). Can you help?

Sorry, I didn't see my post and did it over.

You need to place them in your quick item slot and then exit the inventory screen. When you want to cast the scroll, just click on the relevant quick item slot :)

Thanks, mr_sir ...

I have tried exactly what you said many times and nothing happens. Maybe there's some other reason. But there isn't any message 'you cannot cast this scroll' or anything. I will continue to study the problem, but in practice I have given up on casting spells from scrolls.

For instance, my cleric can cast the Silence spell from her book, but not from a scroll in her quickslots.

Hmmm, I know this sounds obvious but are you remember to click on a target after clicking on the scroll in your quick items slot?

Also, do you have any mods installed, patches installed and so on? If so then which? Do you also have the expansions installed? (The reason I ask is that sometimes these can cause problems if installed incorrectly, for example I couldn't use necklaces or sell rings in one game and it turned out it was because I installed an ease of use mod before installing HoW and TotL rather than afterwards and for some reason this messed up those items).

Thanks again, mr_sir ...

Yes, I do select a target, but nothing happens.

I have Icewind Dale, the Ultimate Collection, and from it have installed ID and HoW. Being Ultimate, I figured it would contain all the patches. The only other game included is IWDII, which I haven't installed yet (wondering if I'll live long enough to play it!). I understand it has a different engine or such. Actually, I thought I just wasn't doing something right, but yeah, I have tried what seemed obvious. Put the scroll in the competent mage's quickslot, leftclicked on it, tried to target and cast, nothing happened. Tried the 'Use' button, didn't work. I'll try some more.

You are sure that you are not silenced or are in an antimagic field?

Crinshinibon, thanks ...

pretty sure. What's an antimagic field? Anyway, my mage who is trying to use the scroll in battle can choose to cast a spell from his spellbook instead, so I guess that isn't it.

OK, I've managed ...

to cast some spells from scrolls, although it doesn't always work. That's better!

This may sound really obvious, but you do always right-click on the scrolls, right? It's something I'd have done in the beginning.

Thanks, Luz ...

I tried everything, even a screwdriver, but I think left-clicking gets me the spell cursor and enables me to cast now. Sometimes it doesn't work, but in these battles sometimes a lot of things don't work ... the spell may be too high a grade for the caster, the caster may be held or fatigued, etc. But I think it's basically working for me now.
