what kind of sword is the holy avenger? is it a long sword or a basterd sword i want to know for my paladins feats/skills or does it not matter. will my paladin just automaticaly be as proficient in that weapon as he can be just because hes a paladin.

The "holy avenger" is a longsword.
Paladins are proficient in any weapon type but bastard sword.
I don't recommend spending a feat for longsword focus before you get it, since 2-handed weapons are much better.
