What's your type? Here's a quick quiz!

I'm ENTP: '"Clever" is the word that perhaps describes ENTPs best. The professor who juggles half a dozen ideas for research papers and grant proposals in his mind while giving a highly entertaining lecture on an abstruse subject is a classic example of the type. So is the stand-up comedian whose lampoons are not only funny, but incisively accurate.'

INFP - "Questor". High capacity for caring. Emotional face to the world. High sense of honor derived from internal values. 4.4% of total population.

You scored as introverted and intellectually curious

Hmmm... Relatively accurate. Though I'm not quite as much of a hermit as those results suggest. I never figured I was that emotional either :D

Though, the problem with the Myers Briggs test, IMO, is that there is not enough room for nuance, and they don't really allow for differing circumstances.

Here, however is a more detailed description of INFP types... It's alarmingly bang on.. :o

INTJ - "Mastermind". Introverted intellectual with a preference for finding certainty. A builder of systems and the applier of theoretical models. 2.1% of total population.

That's the same result I got when I took the full-blown version of the test 20 years ago. I thought that INTJ's made up a smaller percentage of the population than that, but it doesn't really matter. One of the things that distinguishes INTJs is that they are different from each other as well as everyone else. When it comes to matrimonial bliss, INTJs prefer other INTJs or, interestingly enough, their opposites, ESFPs.

This is from Wikipedia:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Myers-Briggs Characteristics

According to Myers-Briggs, INTJs are very analytical individuals. Like INTPs, they are more comfortable working alone than with other people, and are not usually as sociable as others, although they are prepared to take the lead if nobody else is up to the task, or they see a large weakness in the current leadership. They tend to be very pragmatic and logical individuals, often with an individualistic bent and a low tolerance for political correctness, spin, or rampant emotionalism. They tend to be more conventional and conservative than INTPs.

Keirsey Characteristics

According to Keirsey, INTJs, or "Mastermind Rationals", are natural strategists, better than any other type at brainstorming approaches to situations. They are natural, but not eager, leaders, only stepping forward when it becomes obvious to them that they are the best for the job. Strong-willed and very self-assured, they may make this decision quickly...as they tend to make all decisions. But though they are decisive, they are always open-minded to new evidence and new ideas, flexible in their planning to accommodate changing situations. They are excellent at judging the usefulness of ideas and will apply whatever seems most efficient to them in accomplishing their clearly envisioned goals. To INTJs, what matters is getting it done, and they have a tendency to give little thought to personal cost in getting there.

Socionics Characteristics

According to Socionics, INTjs, or "Analysts", are gifted at discerning patterns in situations, able to determine what is important and what unnecessary in advancing their goals. They excel at keeping others focused on the heart of the matter as well, presenting their ideas objectively and logically. They are equally good at analyzing other people and helping them to recognize and utilize their own potential. INTjs do have difficulty conveying their own emotions, which may lead others to find them unfriendly and uninvolved. Even when they do connect, they have trouble maintaining connections. Sometimes lacking self-confidence, they do not always let others see their true talents.

Jung's test have been up a number of times, and when I was tested, I was tested to be a INTP, which describes me pretty accurate.

Especially this snippet:
The INTP has no understanding or value for decisions made on the basis of personal subjectivity or feelings.
Portrait of an INTP
speaks so true for me.

But are you SURE? :) The following passage at the TypeLogic Home Page stands out to me:

"A major concern for INTPs is the haunting sense of impending failure. They spend considerable time second-guessing themselves. The open-endedness (from Perceiving) conjoined with the need for competence (NT) is expressed in a sense that one's conclusion may well be met by an equally plausible alternative solution, and that, after all, one may very well have overlooked some critical bit of data. An INTP arguing a point may very well be trying to convince himself as much as his opposition. In this way INTPs are markedly different from INTJs, who are much more confident in their competence and willing to act on their convictions."

And no, I am not doing a little superiority dance (like the Church Lady from Saturday Night Live), although the thought of doing so amuses me. :)

Right now I'm quite tired though, which often seems to influence results like these. Just out of curiosity, I will do the test later on again, when I'm a bit more awake.
