Orc shamans attacks

I was in the severed hand and noticed something funny. When I got attacked by the orc shamans.
Instead of them slinging some nasty spells at me one walked up at me and before I could interupt him he cast cure moderate wounds on me. Don't get me wrong I could use it, but I don't get it. Can somebody tell me what that was all about?

Maybe you charmed him or something beforehand? Sounds strange... Severed Hand in my opinion is the hardest area in the game...those archers wear me out!

Pretty sure I didn't, it happened on several occasions. Besides I don't use charm spells that much. Can somebody confirm this kind of behavior?

It also happened in one of my games and at least one other person experienced and posted it.

Searched for it, but couldn't find anything similair. Looks like a mistake in the attack script.

Maybe those orc shaman ghosts have kept enough consciousness to know in which state they are in and want you to succeed so that their orcs find peace. (like the elves above who ask you for killing)

I've had that happen too but seemed like it was not at the Hand in my case. In my situation it looked like the shaman came up to cast the spell on someone I was meleeing with and had hurt. However, I killed that opponent off before he finished casting the spell, so the shaman's spell apparently got cast on me. Don't know if that is the cause but sure looked that way.

As far as I know it is not possible to change the target of the spell after you begin casting, so I doubt it. Any kind of action triggers a spell interuption.

This has happened to me quite often. It's odd, but I'm not complaining.

I've also had the elven clerics in the Hand help me out.
